this is a typical "my dad works at Nintendo" post. this is all second hand information, but I was told the specifications for the switch 2 are already set in stone. Nintendo began working on the switch 2 pro right as production started for the base model.
Switch 2 pro coming between 2028-2030, depending on console sales and manufacturing costs

>12gb of faster ram
>512gb base storage
>bigger battery
>wifi 7
>bigger, more efficient cooling fans in the dock and in the console
>wider dock to offer more compatibility for cases and to make room for bigger fans
the price is slated to be between $550 and $650 depending on the economy, tariffs, and whether or not they can keep productions costs down.
internally there were talks about making a switch 2 lite with a detachable joycons, but no TV out. Discussions led to nintendo thinking it made more sense to offer the base system without a dock, controller grips, and a smaller screen, with a price of $349, but keeping the tv out function in case you decide to "go home"
to make sure consumers aren't confused the systems will be sold as the Switch 2 GO Edition, with the outer box saying DOCK SET SOLD SEPERATELY. The marketing will have people using the switch on the go in public places.
Nintendo plans on staying in this generation for as long as possible and are aiming for 10 years until the switch 3 releases. There will not be a true switch 2 pro. Nice upgrades, but nothing effecting gpu or cpu. this is so consumers are geared up for switch 3, in the same way they were geared up for switch 2. Nintendo is now realizing that keeping performance increase generational is what will sell the most consoles in the long run.
I asked how long switch 2 sat in warehouses and was told the oldest consoles are about 9 months old, which explains why people are having problems with the batteries.
