Heartbound is an early access project that been available for purchase since 2018.
Deltarune development started in 2018 but has only recently been purchasable in any form.

He only began to get notable negative reception from his audience after 5 years, by that time Delta rune had given another free chapter bigger than the original.
Meanwhile, even to this day Heartbound is described on steam reviews as 'practically the same as when I bought it 6 years ago' despite the dev constantly saying 'its almost finished' that whole time.
