While Unreal and Unity allowed games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to be made by a small team, they're also responsible for all the crap produced as well.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is basically what an old style team would have been like. Just extremely nerdy passionate people about a video game. Focused and with a vision.
Meanwhile you look at shit like AAA slop these days and the leadership has no vision, the main steam is 300 people cobling it together in Unreal, theres no real coherence or plan just a vauge idea of what the product is supposed to be at the end and it's usually a clone or copy of an existing product.
300 9 to 5 devs that clock out and don't give a fuck. Half of them replaced at the end of the project because they become obsolete.
