Is Game Pass worth it? I just think it sucks that you don't actually own any of the games.

It's worth of you want to play a lot of games. Like I want to play DOOM, Expedition 33 and Indiana Jones. I think subscribing for 2 months would be reasonable and then stop until there's something good again

It's good if you want to play a game you think you'll never play again

Yeah it's like a rental service. You can't keep your save data either. I would've bought Lies of P on the Xbox app but my save data was delete when the subscription ran out. When they have the $1 for a month of gamepass deal it's worth it

GP introduced me to games I normally would have never tried but ended up really liking and also saved me from purchasing games I would have regretted buying. I like it.

It's good for someone like me who rarely play a game again after fully completed it. In a rare case I like a game so much I want to play it again, it's usually years after I completed it so I can wait to buy it on steam for a discount. Also I agree with what this anon said >>712518941

Just pirate or wait for a sale, there is never a good reason to promote subscription services.

You also dont own any of your digital games, gamepass just removes the illusion.

After using gamepass for 5 years, I ended up hating the service. Its 300+ games, sure, but its not 300 games you picked, so like 90% you'd never buy.
So to get value out of the service you end up mostly playing gamepass and thus games that you dont really love.
I was bound at home for 2 years because of health issues and I beat like 200 games via gamepass. I can name maybe 5

It's pretty damn good value for your bang if you just subscribe for a month or two. Last time I subscribed for a month, I played like 10 different games, finishing most of them.

Not really. A WoW or OSRS sub is far better value.

I never subscribe for longer than a month. I only use it to play short linear stuff I know will have zero replay value and to demo games I'm interested in keeping.

It's helpful if you want to play multiplayer games with other people who also have GamePass. I dislike the lack of ownership too, but when you have a group of people across PC and Xbox, and you want to play games together, being able to say "hey, this is on GamePass, let's all download it" simplifies things. For example, one guy I play with wanted everyone to buy Monhun Wilds, but it's very expensive between three people (and a casual low performance mess), so we just didn't and found a handful of games to play on GamePass instead. Even with 2.5 months of subbing, with the dollar deal and some sub time after, that's maybe $25 compared to the $80 or whatever it is on Monster Hunter, and that's not even accounting for the upcoming DLC expansion. Maybe there would be some deals for the game, but my point stands.

It also comes with a few small benefits. I have gotten two packs included for The Finals so far (so two free bits of premium currency equaling around $10 worth and two full outfits). Then there are also single-player games I could play hassle-free (Stalker 2 and some single-player RPGs I don't want to buy). The only thing I don't like is that my life is somewhat hectic, which makes it hard to sit down and play many single-player titles like that.
>tldr: you make it worth it or not, not Microsoft.

False equivalence.
You have significantly less administrative control over your Goypass games, because it's a system that Microsoft has more control over than you do.
Digital games that aren't on Goypass can be copied, modified and moved to different storage media, they can even be played without any DRM.

It was worth it to me when I could buy heavily discounted keys online but they ended that so now I'll probably never pay for it again. I'm patient so if I see a game I'm iffy on as to whether I'll like it or not I'll wait for a sale & just buy it for far less than the price they're charging for a month of gamepass. The games I know I'll like I'll just buy outright whenever I feel like it.

Yes it's worth it if you actually play games instead of obsess over plastic or collecting shit on sale that you'll never play.

If you reject the paradigm of media display pieces, then you also have to stop respecting copyright. When books were restricted by copyright and thus valuable, they were also treated as display pieces by the illiterate.
Subscription models are bad at encouraging the development of good media either way, as seen by basically every streaming service with its own content creation.

I use it for fallout 76 on a firestick on my tv. Instant loading and shit. Never wait for updates. Is perfect.

However every other title on it fucking blows and is boring. It's given them the excuse to half ass games now they Day 1 release on there.

yeah i built a new pc a few months ago and have been using gamepass. it's really good. lots of games with a lot of variety from indiana jones to battlefront 2 which has been popping off on pc again recently. coming from ps5, it's honestly true that xbox makes better games and offers better value than sony.

Super worth it. I Always buy it when big new game goes live. Ofcourse i buy code on some shady webpage for 3-7$, play the game unsubscribe. Rinse and repeat. Best way to play the games without pirating.

there are two scenarios where its worth it
>there are a couple games you want to play but have no interest in keeping, so you buy a month or two
>you use one of the tricks you can use to make it much, much cheaper
I paid around 20€, a bit less, for two full years of gamepass.

If you have a friend to go split the bill ends up being pretty good deal to just want to play games before buying or lazy to pirate
