The dpad feels great, as do the sticks. But as another anon pointed out, it is in the wrong spot if you're going to use it for a 2D game. I heavily favoured third-party pads for the Switch 1, but I find myself using the official controller for every 3d game on Switch 2.

Now that I have been thoroughly 8bitdo pro 2 pilled I struggle to even use my switch 2 controller cos I've simply began to prefer the width/handfeel of the pro 2

so I don't know about goat, it doesn't feel as premium in the hands as the 8bitdo pro 2 and the buttons are louder which is a huge turn off for me

>pic rel, da bess

but I can't use it with my actual switch 2 I don't think (unless there is firmware upgrade I am unaware of) which kinda blows

((I haven't turned my switch 2 on in 3 days and the kids have already found something else to distract them))

Ok fagets help. I was thinking about 8bitdo ultimate 3 xbox version because i like the AB buttons instead of BA.
Are Hall Effect joystick really good? Is it worth it? Do they feel different? I only played on low budget china pads, and xbox 360 pad from time to time.
Is this good?

Most complaints about missing features stem from the fact that devs are usually so pretentious that they don't let you remap and rebind all the controls.

This. The only 8bitdo controller worth owning is the switch arcade stick. I've owned 2 others and they have both had SEVERE input-lag issues after a few months. The stick is good for the price if you're willing to switch out the buttons. Of course you're going wireless, but if you're playing arcade games on the switch you're probably okay with less-than-perfect arcade ports anyway.

Depends on what kind of dpad you prefer and what kind of games you like to play (ie discs such as the saturn being better for fighters). I grew up with a SNES and use a stick for arcade games so I have always preferred the traditional cross style. I love the replica SNES controller that Nintendo released for the Switch and use it for all my 2D console games.

Sorry for the double-post, but I also have to have a D-pad symmetrical with the face buttons of a controller when playing a 2D game. The only other major modern third-party pad that does this is the 8bitdo pro i think its called but that had some fucked up connectivity issues after only a few months of use.

I really like standard Xbox wireless controller for almost everything, but find it awful for 2d games, metroidvanias etc. Ive tried using a PS4 controller but found the Dpad also feels weird, and I dont have a PS5 to test how the Dpad is, although I was considering picking up a PS5 controller anyway. I was thinking about an 8bitdo but everyone seems to not like them

As I said, ergonomically the 8bitdo pro 2 is perfect for 2d games but it got unusably laggy after a short time which was a shame. I think their reputation of being just shit all-round is a bit unfair.

Terrible post. Macro-paddles etc are as useful as you want then to be. The G buttons on the new Switch 2 controller are very unintrusive and extremely intuitive/quick to map, on the Switch at least. The problem most people have with back-paddles are usually that they feel uncomfortable - IMHO the G buttons fix this.

Why are retards on this board so fucking obsessed with analogue triggers? Unless you're playing a game that specifically makes use of them, they feel like shit compared to most digital triggers with decent depth to them. Explain why I should give a fuck about analogue triggers in 95% of video games.
