I’ve read that motion aiming feels great and is as precise as a mouse. It took almost 10 years for Nintendo to develop a game gravitating around but Wii U was a massive failure and Splatoon slopped hard. In that same year, 2015, Valve released the Steam Controller, a controller whose premise was to be a KB&M alternative for faggots to play PC games in the living room, but it flopped too because it demanded the user (retard) to make their own layouts or used one created by another retard, which led to inconsistency because each profile was based on the retard’s current KB&M personal settings: different DPI preferences, different keybindings, or even different methods (gyro to mouse, gyro to joystick, trackpad as a mouse, and so on).

It took 7 years since the Steam Controller’s launch (2023) for Epic Games to implement gyro aiming plus stick flick on Fortnite, and even with that, it’s been a gimmick that only tendies use while playing shitty Doom ports.

Since I’m a super human (NEET autistic T500 Overwatch fag), I’ve tried gyro aiming with a Steam Controller. So far, I’ve sunk almost 300 hours into it, but the muscle memory I have aiming with my right hand (using my shoulder, elbow, and wrist) is not transferable to aiming with a controller where I only use my wrist, trying to stay still using my lap for stability. I’ve deranked from Grandmaster 1 to Diamond 3 over two seasons trying to play competitive with my Steam Controller. I’ve watched faggots claim it’s even better than a mouse, but those idiots are steamed garbage playing with KB&M. Then you have other motherfuckers who are the best of the best playing CS2 with a DualSense, but with 2000 hours in the bad,is insane.

Is gyro aiming a legit alternative due to its precision, or is it just a bad meme because of its ludicrous learning curve? Have you even tried it or are you too retarded for that and prefer to play with an Xbox controller like a pajeet?

It’s an in between for those who want mouse like precision but don’t want to use a keyboard. The thing is it’s only useful for FPSes, I can’t think of a single game outside of that genre that uses it.

Is comfy, I have been playing Gran Turismo steering with DualSense gyro, for me is better than playing with the analog and more affordable than an actual steering wheel.

Gyro aiming is not as good as the mouse, nor is it even as good as the Wii's IR aiming (which... is just how a mouse works) as it brings in a bit of input lag.

But it IS far superior to dual analogue stick. Especially because I no longer need aim assist as a crutch now as it's very existence feels like it cheapens my achievements.

It's not as good as the mouse still, but the gulf between dual analogue sticks (WTITHOUT cheats aka aim assist) and mouse is is truly massive. Even the most experienced dual analogue player could not win in such a scenario against an even mediocre mouse player. Dual analogue players have to rely on their aim assist to carry them and they have to rely on it HARD.

Gyro does NOT require any kind of aim assist to function and be usable. Because of that games made around gyro controls in mind i.e. Splatoon have none. An experienced gyro player can very much compete against a mediocre mouse player.

The problem of gyro is that it has no real tracking it just guesstimates the position based on rotation and speed. But over time it will lose said tracking because of small inaccuracies piling up so you NEED a dedicated button to recenter the view, or only activate gyro when you i.e. hold a certain button. But if a game doesn't really support gyro out of the box and you just map steam to emulate the mouse then you can't really do that (the only thing you can do is "emulate mouse only if I hold another button").

So Mouse > IR lightgun > gyro >>>>>>>>>>>> Dual Analogue.

Dual Analogue aiming is just utter trash and needs to be turned into the "optional alternative aiming mode for disabled people" on console games in favor to gyro as the standard ASAP.

I only used gyro on wiiu/switch for splatoon and zelda (for bow aiming) and while it's a million times better than a stick alone, it's no KB+M.

They didn't hate the gyro for Star Fox, they hated that the crosshair wasn't properly centered so you had to look down at the gamepad for cockpit view which THEN allowed you to aim properly.

I'm not sure who told you it was a true alternative to a mouse, but they were either advertising or fell for it. It's infinitely better than pure sticks but worse than regular mouse.

Could never get used to it, felt horrible and vague to me.
