Last thread died, so new Morrowind thread.
How to generate grass if using MO2:
1. Download and install grass plugins.
2. Check "on" both mods (list on the left) and plugins (list on the right).
3. Close MO2 and open it again.
4. Run MGE XE opening it from MO2 (important).
4. Generate distant land. Use "use current load order" for choosing plugins.
5. Generate. It took about 20 minutes for me.
6. When it's done, in MO2 leave mods (left) "on" but check plugins (right) "off"
7. Your grass just works
will there be at least marginal PT/TR releases from all provinces by 2030? hammerfell, high rock, black marsh, elsweyr, etc.
>>712566167Look at claims tracker. Right now there are a lot of assest for Cathonquey in development.
My guess is that within next 2 years we'll get some of High Rock, Hammerfell, Padomaic Islands and more Cyrodiil.

i have like 500 mods, is it worth it to fuck around with getting BCOM (beautiful cities of morrowind) and retroactively checking if all my existing mods have patches, or just say fuck it? i never really liked overhauling vanilla places, just adding more stuff.
>>712565963I liked bullying his dumbass friend

should I try total overhaul now or wait until 8.0?
>>712569116I just wish he fixed the fucking roofs. No place with this much snow is going to have flat-roofed houses.
>>712566338Hammerfell is definitely not coming within two years, don't let the exterior progress fool you. High Rock's first release might come within two years if things go very smoothly, but I wouldn't bet on it. Temaris (first PI release) might be out within that time, but definitely not Cathnoquey (plan is for each of Cath, Yneslea, and Esroniet to be one release). Sutch won't be PT's focus until after Markarth is done, but it could optimistically happen within two years.

>>712575681armorer is worthless
speech and security are decent, but the magic equivalent mogs them bad

the two fundamental skills (if you're not going out of your way to not use magic) are alteration and mysticism, everything else is up to taste.
>>712575326Once AI generation of 3d assets is cheaper the real bottleneck on these projects will be gone.
>>712575681You'll want alteration, illusion, and one weapon and armor skill for sure. All the magic skills are good, the thief ones generally suck, except speechcraft which is really good.
Don't bother with a heavily vanilla playthrough.
Fatigue affects almost everything, including things you wouldn't expect. If you're low fatigue you barter worse, convince people worse, attack worse, cast worse, jump lower, literally almost every single action in the game is better if your green bar is full.

Tamriel Rebuilt quests:
>Darn, we're out of stinkbloom and toiletweed. Fetch us 10 samples of each. Do not bother with any alchemists or apothecaries here. I'm only used to Oblivion
I tried Skyrim. It felt like the entire gameworld was basically 'we're useless fucks, please do everything for us' like the entire world was static somehow and in a loop until you came along
I was planning on going melee and taking alteration for the utility and maybe conjuration so I can summon shit if I get raped
Other than that I'm taking security and speechcraft
Is athletics/mercantile worth it at all? I don't want to do glitches or gamebreaking shit but I've no idea what to use for skills since I only want one weapon type, blunt
>>712568038Considering OG morrowind already has twice the original's landmass in pure mod content (that's all as good, but mostly better than the original), I don't think they'll care much
>>712575681Redpill: Morrowind is pretty shitty as a game. The combat is the worst in the series (including Daggerfall), the visuals are ass, and it has almost none of the interactivity ES games are known for like NPC schedules. Stealth is also a complete joke and unusable for the most part. The world, whilst thematically interesting and creative, is very boring to play through, as it's just mines, caves and tombs copied over and over. Most NPCs do not have any sort of unique dialog, and all dialog, except greetings and a few main quest moments are entirely unvoiced.
The pros are... All this makes the game extremely easy to mod, hence Tamriel Rebuilt. It's a gigantic landmass mod that fills the game world out with content that (mostly) blends in perfectly with the original game.
If you treat the game as a walking simulator, throw in Ashfall for some survival/travel stuff and only really care about the lore, it can be mildly fun. But otherwise, it's just... Really underwhelming and not that fun to play.
t. boomer who didn't play Morrowind growing up and thus has no nostalgia for it.

I don't understand the lore of cliffracers exactly. It feels strange that a flying creature that spends its time in high altitude areas would bother chasing a random humanoid across the fields so aggressively. It feels like the Nerevar just has an aura that pisses off every wild animal in a 4 mile radius, it doesn't really make much sense at all. In all the RPGs I've played, I think Morrowind has the least immersive wildlife possible. It's really impressive.
I know the whole cliffracer thing is just a funny haha meme thing regarding Morrowind but the Nerevar has to have done something in his past life to piss a species off so much that the creature is WAITING for you to come back after recalling just to try kicking your ass. You have to genuinely sit here and wonder why a fucking bird creature stood by for a week, pissed off at you, waiting for you to return to Ald-ruhn so it peck at you. It never once broke aggro. It remained pissed off, unchanging, fervently, ready to strike while I was taking care of chores somewhere else.
Holy fucking shit, man.
>>712586321Are you fucking retarded
Eagles are one of the highest flying birds and they nest high
>>712586536Yeah but they don't strike and fuck off like an actual hunting bird, they follow. And they follow. And they follow well after the prey is on the other side of Vvardenfell. It's crazy.
>>712586596Eagles will give chase if needed unlike smaller birds of prey
Also I always thought they were magic sky stingrays/pterodactyls instead of actual birds

>>712588589I think you're always breaking the game a little each time you go free roaming instead of doing quests. It doesn't really matter. The game is far too big for a single playthrough. >>712593217Getting magic skills above 70 isn't really useful, since you'll be able to cast 99% of practical spells by that point, but you're gonna get beyond that point anyway on a mage run so you might as well make ad hoc spells to kill specific bosses.
TR in particular adds some annoying ones, so having a touch of death hitting for 2000+ is pretty handy.
>>712595069Nah, just use telekinesis.

>>712593217It's to make spells cheaper so you can actually spam them instead of running out of air after two really fucking basic attack spells
Which doesn't mean much considering all higher level enemies resist, reflect or plain old ignore most damage spells anyways lol fuck you
>>712595908all melee weapons deal the same type of damage, they're mostly down to preference outside of spears being backpedal gods and shortblades being enchantment dispensers.
fun fact, your bow damage is modified by your strength.
>>712596059Kemel-Ze is part of all the really old TR content. It's super outdated and basically entirely and totally unfinished, as you've probably noticed.
>>712596059>Damn, and when's thatNo idea, but considering where it is now it's not gonna be until they redo the telvanni maps, so after redoran most likely.
>why's Kemel-ze important You know, I don't actually think it is at all? ESO added some Sotha Sil lore about it being a proto-clockwork city, but nobody cares about ESO.
It's more that it's famous because that fucking book is everywhere in every game, so I guess TR devs wanted to make a big deal out of its ruin.
>>712596742>You know, I don't actually think it is at allOh, I thought it was because, you know, like you said, that book is really everywhere.
>>712596742That's also why they're redoing it. Kemel-Ze in the book had a big tomb but other than that there's no indication anything else about it is particularly special.
In-game they basically made it the largest Dwemer city by several orders of magnitude, which in retrospect is kind of odd. Even ESO just made it a chateau that Dumac gave Sotha Sil.
Mind you, reinventing Kemel-Ze to be a House on the Rock kind of thing would be cool, but either way.

>shall unite all the tribes of the dunmer, drive out the invaders of morrowind, and shall reestablish the ancient laws and customs of the dark elven nations
so the emperor wants to drive out his own people (imperials) from a foreign land? or am i stupid?
>>712595908Fire/frost/shock/poison/magicka/physical are all the types to my knowledge.
If you use a weapon it's not unusual for the enchantment to vastly outscale the weapon itself. So if you're fighting a bunch of daedra you may want to take an enchantment type that you resist to reduce reflect, or if you're fighting undead you don't want to use cold since they're immune or resistant to it.
>>712597250I think the implication was that they no longer see themselves as the invaders but like they belong there but, what the heck, I thought the Empire didn't get to rule Morrowind till much later and Reman was kicked in the balls when he tried to invade
>>712586486I mean, Morrowind's quests are usually pretty simple
>>712589457I use https://modding-openmw.gitlab.io/ncgdmw-lua/
>>712597250I always read it as a Dune situation where they know the prophecy is pretty much a superstitious load of shit so they send an inside man to become the prophesized one to ultimately wrest control from the Dunmer.
>>712597427Yeah, quests are usually to kill a bunch of dark elf vermin and they die painfully and easily
>>712597250Because he probably realizes that the Empire is on the brink of breaking up and he'd rather have the new boss of Morrowind be someone he sort of has control over rather than some hostile Dunmer chud.
>>712597046if you're already hitting stuff fine, sanctuary is the better defensive option, a point of agility gives .25 dodge chance at maximum fatigue whereas sanctuary gives 1% regardless of fatigue level with the same base cost.
>>712597250The Emperor wants to make sure Corprus doesn't spread to Cyrodiil. Losing his paltry 'control' of Morrowind is an acceptable trade off. Particularly since the relationship with House Hlaalu is unlikely to change, so they'll still be able to get ebony shipments.
The fact that the Nerevarine is likely to slaughter or exile all imperials (citizens, not the race) currently in Morrowind is apparently an acceptable sacrifice. Or the writers just didn't think it through, since they banished the character for future canon despite it not making much sense either.
My bet's on the latter. They just didn't really seem to comprehend the magnitude of having the immortal Dunmer king of legend around. In fact, to my knowledge, the Emperor was under the impression that the Tribunal wouldn't even be going anywhere, making the whole thing even more stupid.
>>712597046>>712597589Plus fortify spells are just way too costly if you go over like just 5 points. I mean sure, you probably have enough glass and daedric 10000 times folded swords to cover it but you can also spend that money on multiple useful utility enchants that'll help out more
>>712597250I wouldn't be surprised that they knew about Dagoth Ur through the Elder Scrolls prophecies and Uriel decided it better to lose Morrowind through an agent with Imperial sympathies than to risk the destruction of the world.
>>712597691You can make the enchantment a magnitude and just keep equipping it until you roll the numbers you want.
Part of me wanted to do a mod that makes the magnitude of a spell or enchant dependent on skills + luck, but I don't think that's possible even with MWSE.
>>712597602>They just didn't really seem to comprehend the magnitude of having the immortal Dunmer king of legend aroundThe emperor and his advisors probably just thought of it as silly Dark Elf superstition they could use to keep Morrowind around as a friend after the inevitable collapse of the empire.
>>712597250He thinks the prophecy coming true is inevitable, and he almost certainly knows the empire is fucked. He probably wanted to make sure Morrowind was off balance so they wouldn't try anything funny in a coming moment of weakness, and ensuring its messiah had their fate irrevocably tied to the Septim line was a bonus.
Also, Dagoth Ur was who knows how few years away from getting past the Ghostfence and skullfucking Cyrodil with the Blight and the Septim line has a habit of knowing shit they have absolutely NO right to.
>>712597250>RevanWait which one is Revan, when was this
>>712597771That's possible, but if that was the case the Nerevarine wouldn't have been able to stop Corprus either, so sending him is basically just a waste of time.
>>712597858that's just your characters name
>>712597763There's really only two solutions to that exploit. The first is to not allow ranges on CE enchants. The second is to make them reroll every second like they do for Restore Health.
I don't know if either is possible to implement. I personally just always set a static value for the CE because anything else feels like a clear exploit.
>>712597763I just think magnitude ranges in constant effects just straight up shouldn't have been allowed but that's just me. It's really cheesy but not even in a satisfying way like "wow I just figured out I can use potions that make me smarter to make better potions"
>>712597954>because anything else feels like a clear exploit. That is the fun of Morrowind.
>>712598084The cope over this will never make sense to me
Just console command it
>>712597954I dunno, man. For some effects, the magnitude you can get without using a range just feels like a waste of time to make a CE at all. If I can't even get ten points of whatever Fortify I'm aiming for I feel better off making it a Cast On Use instead.
>>712598237>will never make sense to meBecause Morrowind is so easy to break, even by accident, that it becomes a game where breaking it is part of the game itself.
It's fun to use telekinesis to mass open doors, steal everyone's eggs briefly boost your security for 2 seconds to pickpocket everyone to the point of nudity, and then use a 60 point jump spell to blast halfway across the province back to the arms of your sweaty harem.
>>712598393You can ALWAYS make a noticeable CE enchant. Just not necessarily the one you want. Restore Fatigue is notably cheap.
>>712598083>wow I just figured out I can use potions that make me smarter to make better potionsThe truth about the alchemy exploit is that it isn't even necessary to do half the time. With high enough alchemy and intelligence you can be making Fortify Attribute 30+ points or stupid long Restore potions without boosting. The only real reason to make fuckhueg +Int potions is to make Enchanting functional or make specific potions that are stronger than the shit you could buy, like Reflect or Spell Absorption. Like seriously with those two you get like 8% reflect or 7 points of absorption at 65 Alchemy and 65 Intelligence, it's fucking stupid
>>712598453>boost your security for 2 seconds to pickpocket everyone to the point of nudityOh fuck off train autist, you know that this doesn't work even if you get a billion in your agi and security
I'm still mad at how broken stealth is bros
>>712598489I still have no idea how reflect or absorb rates are calculated
>>712598546It is if you're using the real time pickpocket mod. Which you should be.
>>712598489Reflect, Spell Absorption, and the Resists are all hilariously overcosted. The problem is their formula doesn't really account for the differences in time mattering so much. So something that only needs to last a couple of seconds like Charm or Calm is too cheap, but something that should last at least a minute like Resist is prohibitively expensive.
FFS a Daedric Tower Shield only gives 22.5% elemental resist (average/static) or a whopping 4.5% Reflect.
>>712598846Your appointment to House Hlaalu should be finalized within the week, I've already discussed the matter with the grandmaster.
>>712599353Why contain it?
It's grand and intoxicating.
>>712590552>Nerevar's haremAre there even mods for that? Morrowind companion mods with romances can be counted in one hand, and most of them are old af.
What I tend to do is that I just use admire on the least ugly fem npcs in a settlement. The dialogue is so hilariously flirtatious that you can roleplay that your character is spreading his bloodline around.
>>712599563I just Command Humanoid them
>>712597250Here, the actual redpill: The emperor suspects something is going on, but he isn't actually sure.
It's heavily implied by the game's plot and structure that you are essentially a psyop, an Asset: The prophecy may be true or not, but you are in Morrowind as a puppet to essentially subvert the dunmer's dissident extremist religion into a weapon to weaken the Tribunal and strengthen the Empire's position. A blades agent becoming messiah would be the biggest achievement for the organization at a provincial level.
Now, are you an asset by the endgame? That's the real question here, and one only you can answer
>>712599869>The prophecy may be true or notWhat? The prophecy IS true. All the major players acknowledge it as such. Nobody disputes it, only the details of it.
>>712600189Not exactly.
Your dialogue choices with Dagoth Ur, in which you can outright deny being the Nerevarine, those are not just for people that roleplay humble characters: During the whole MQ the prophecy is treated more like an instruction manual and none of its predictions come true in a straight way. Not only that, but most characters are pretty self-aware of intentionally acting in order to make the prophecy come true, rather than just being pawns of fate, and even the ashlanders seem to not think of you as actual Nerevar reborn until the trials are complete, and not because they couldn't recognize you, but because you weren't "yet".
If that's not enough, MK himself said in an interview that the prophecy is only true if the player wants it to be true. Morrowind is basically fantasy Dune.

>>712600713MK didn't write as much as people give him credit for and was heavily tard wrangled.
The player can believe what he wants, but the prophecy comes true regardless of his beliefs. You unironically have a 'media literacy' failure here; and not in interpretation but in literal reading. The question isn't whether or not the prophecy is true--it is. The question is whether or not (You) made it so, or it was controlled by a more powerful entity, and if (You) are the Nerevar reborn or not. If (You) had failed, someone else would've fulfilled the prophecy. It was always going to become true.

>>712565552 (OP)Ill be staring TR for the first time today. It seems i should join hlaalu in order to get the mowt content right? Are there any other factions that are joinable outside vanila? Are there any conflicting ones? And lastly. Is there a mod that allows me to join more houses? I always go redoran but hlaalu is really tempting right now
>>712613630TR is adding playable Indoril next update. It does add the Ja Natta Syndicate, a new criminal faction in Narsis. Hlaalu and Telvanni has the most content, but.the Telvanni stuff is old and not as top quality as Hlaalu. There should still be some Redoran stuff too.
If you want entirely new factions, you'll need to go to Skyrim or Cyrodiil
>>712613630Hlaalu has the most content (and it's not even done yet), but there's some mindlessly fun 'go forth and smoke that motherfucker' type quests for Redoran. Honestly the best faction to join in TR as of now, both for quality and quantity, is the Temple. Imperial organizations also have quite a lot of content, though it's more hit and miss. Avoid Telvanni, who have a grand total of one good questline and are a relic of shitty pre-renaissance design.
>>712613938>necromancy is useless>if they don't want to die, they should learn Recall instead
>>712600189A big part of morrowinds story is that people kinda don't know what the fuck they are talking about and how everyone just justifies their actions with words and mystery.
>>712613630Whatever you do, go South, to Skyrim or Anvil. Don't bother with central East parts of the expansion. There's nothing to do there. I'm moving from SE to N, I will report more in the following threads. Just avoid East. I've been to a huge Temple City named Necrom and only found two quests there: finding a book for a woman from Bal Foyen and the other one was sobering up a drunk Indoril. I'm talking about Ald-Ruhn-sized city offering nothing but museums.
Is this a good way to include your background lore? I actually don't remember this from my first playthrough so I'm reading them all now.
>>712615876There's a small Temple questline there that rewards some pretty boss armor, and another misc one where you lay a ghost to rest, but, yeah, that's it. In the whole Telvanni-Indoril section of the map there is less to do than in one Hlaalu city. Even Akamora, which is supposed to be the Indoril capital, only has a couple of quests.
>>712615876Firewatch has a ton of content Anon
>>712596059I'm there right now for the first time since I was a kid. I was 11 when this part of the map was released back in 2008. Basically we have a Telvanni town just outside where the locals joke about the ruins being a literal nothingburger while the Imperials keep poking around inside. I don't want to spoil anyone's experience, but the interior is like a Daggerfall dungeon with countless corridors and several huge atriums. The place has been looted a long time ago. The old TR team didn't know what to do obviously, they just kept expanding the overworld map with little thought on what to do with it. Maybe they planned on doing the map first and content second... It just didn't work.

Yes, it's "worse" than the newest Hlaalu lands, but it's still huge and beautiful landmass with a lot of exploration to do. Less quests tho, save for Helnim and Firewatch that were recently reworked. In fact only Necrom is clearly sub-par.

bloodmoon is a bit better, a change of aesthetic for one, but it's completely irrelevant to any plot threads from the base game. it's self-contained. decent hook for the story, but a bit dry in presentation. it's certainly longer than tribunal and the sidequests are much better, like building your own colony, but all in all its main quest has the same issue where it's a snoozefest until the very, very end.

It wasn't for money or a product release so the other obvious option is trying to piggyback off of the remaster.

This had nothing to do with the oblivion remastered release. The dev cycle for Grasping Fortune was 4+ years, and they never pick release targets until they think they're just a couple of months out.
