Gears of War has always been like this because the developers clearly made a huge oversight during development of the game. Its nobodies fault but them to have so overlooked the fact that Gears could easily be played this way. Really puts into perspective the lack of skill those nerds back in the day had. Its real cool they developed these games and I am very grateful to them for that but lets be realistic here. They are the ones that should have seen the games could easily be played in this way. Its not peoples fault at all.

Really you complaining about this would be like complaining about so many people using rifles in your typical Call of Duty game or really any FPS game. What the hell do you expect when the games are usually designed around it? What is next you will be against crouching in a fighting game? Your complaint here is highly idiotic. If you don't like it go make your own cover based shooter and force shotguns to be pick up on map only for the multiplayer and make them very unwieldy to use. Gears mp without this kind of run and gun shotgun gameplay just wouldn't even be the same game anymore.

Are you sure? I remember Gears 3 feeling super polished. Its the best game in the series imo from a gameplay standpoint at least but I also liked the enemy designs and ending to that game as well so its my favorite in the series. Game ended on such a good note so its too bad they had to continue it with 4 and 5 which while I barely played everything else I seen from the games seems so shitty and inferior story wise to the first trilogy. Hopefully this prequel is decent at least but I haven't really even been into Xbox since the 360 days anyways.

I still liked 1 and 2 despite their issues. Multiplayer always seemed to have some issues with those games no matter how much they fixed it but it was a part of the fun desu. Always loved the maps in these games there are very few I don't like. Might be that I just like round based multiplayer with balanced maps. More shooters should be this way.

I mean, I love Gears 1 to death, but it's a very weird decision to straight up rerelease a game from 2006 with 2015 graphics layered on top in 2025 as a way to try and endear new fans to the franchise.
The game is so janky and full of obtuse exploits that new players are just going to get their head caved in by shit that is not really intuitable.

Artistically speaking yes, the grim look to GOW1 was the best, basically the reason why the game got the praise it got. So sad modern devs have no soul and confuse color oversaturation and flares for good game art.
