>>712571463>Or was wearing his protective gear over the years make that big of a difference?yes
>>712570484 (OP)What the fuck happened to Tony? Is he really that old now?
>>712570484 (OP)Cool, Tony Hawk now has gray hair just like me. It has been 20-25 years since we were at the pinnacle of THPS/"action sports" popularity after all.
Here's hoping we at least get remakes/remasters of THUG and THUG2, not that any of the games needed a remaster in the first place IMO
>>712571463Literally every older skater that refused protective padding because it was "gay" is now retired.
Seriously, wearing pads isn't a big deal. Maybe it adds a little weight, maybe it changes a bit of balance, but you can work with it.
Anyone else feel like pop culture used to be a river and now it's a stagnant lake with various toxic runoffs from apartment buildings and businesses
He looks like he went to the beach that makes you old
>>712572654>Seriously, wearing pads isn't a big deal. Maybe it adds a little weight, maybe it changes a bit of balance, but you can work with it.Yeah but it's gay.
>>712572412>Is he really that old now?Yeah he is bro...
>>712572528I bought 1+2 on switch and PC and love it. I'll be buying 3+4 just in the hope that it brings thug1+2 for you fags because that's when I stopped playing THPS and thought it was the reason why the games died. But we all deserve some THPS.
>>712571463>>712572654He also pretty much exclusively skated transition. It's a lot easier on your body.
come talk about tony hawk and bam margera in earth rocker general on /xs/
>>712572879Also true. As I get older I realize how fucked concrete is for joints. Also I don't mean to put down street skaters, those guys are daredevils. It's just that wearing at minimum some knee pads or a helmet might have helped.
>>712570484 (OP)>people ageTruly, a shocking revelation.
Listen, I know it's a bit morbid, but I just hope we get the THUG remake before he kicks the bucket.
>>712572528Dude after THPS4's soundtrack got absolutely gutted I'm not at all looking forward to what they'd do to THUG1+2
>>712571589The contrast between Tony Hawk and Bam strikes me as kind of hilarious. Tony Hawk's got that family friendly look going on. He looks like the kind of guy who'd be talking to kids in a PSA about the dangers of drugs, how they should look both ways before they cross the street, how they should brush and floss their teeth twice a day, and the importance of staying active and exercising. Bam looks like the kind of guy that if parents saw their kids talking to they'd immediately grab them, walk away quickly, and call the cops.
>>712573004Yeah man. I'm late 20s now and my knees/ankles are basically shot from drops, one messy landing has me limping for a week, and I wasn't even crazy with them either. It's amazing to me that people like Jaws can even still walk let alone ride a skateboard
>>712570484 (OP)>people agewhoa....
>the hawk cares for his body and wears pads and helmets
>still gets to do what he loves
it's really that simple
>>712573439It'll happen to you
>>712572821I'm a THUG supremacist but 4 might be one of my favorites as well. I just never really liked the "do everything within 2 minutes GO" of the first three games, and THPS4 at least made those missions such as high score runs and SKATE things you had to start yourself.
Story is super cheesy and campy of course but I always liked it, too.
>>712573132It's a sad inevitability of any game with a licensed soundtrack but definitely annoying. You can throw on a THPS4 playlist in the background, of course, but having to do that while still paying money for the "remaster" sucks especially considering zoomers will miss out on the soul of the original soundtrack.
>supposedly no AC/DC, no TNT>the entire "unlock all" cheat being tied to the code "watch_me_xplode", a direct lyric from that songI'm guessing the original cheats won't be in the game either, in that case.
>>712573264>>712571589>That time when Bam and Tony Hawk were hanging out and Tony heard Bam barfing up everything he just ate and told him he was bulimic and and should get helpThe path's these two guys took is night and day. I'm still in awe that Steve O is the one who turned things around meanwhile Bam is barely above water.
Is X-Games still around? I remember it blowing up when the games came out
>>712573767>I'm still in awe that Steve O is the one who turned thingsHe was probably the one I expected to do it the least, but now he's annoying and gay. "Did I mention that time I was in rehab and that time when I was still on drugs before I went to rehab for drugs?"
>>712573742Yes? Stop making fun of Tony.
>>712574214I haven't made fun of him once faggot he was my idol growing up
>>712572528>>712572821>>712573132The THUG games absolutely need to have the same free roaming/mission based structure as the originals or otherwise they'll be the definition of a soulless cash grab.
>>712574579Alright, faggot.
>>712570484 (OP)He's in great shape for his age. He still skateboards for fun, just not as hard-core any more.
We all grow old anon. I think you should be inspired so when you turn 57, you too won't be a fat fuck and will still be active outside.
>>712573767I really don't see Bam getting sober and turning his life around any time soon. He just keeps going to rehab, relapsing, going back to rehab, relapsing, and going to rehab again. I've been in recovery for over 5 years now and it's one of the things I've recognized as someone just going through the motions of trying to look like they're making an effort to get clean but is only doing it because they're being pressured by family, friends, or employers rather than doing it because they actually want to get sober. Rehab will sober you up and you can go there as many times as you like (or at least as many times as your insurance and finances will allow you) but it's never what will keep you sober.
TURN IT UP
BRING THE NOISE
the new pinball level in 3+4 looks pretty neat
>>712572716The beach that makes you old?
>>712575695Becoming sober is completely possible, many have done it. But you're right, the person needs to have a real desire to get over the addiction.
Just going through the routine because of social pressure isn't enough. He really needs to look in the mirror and think and believe "I don't want to do this anymore."
>>712570484 (OP)if tony hawk asked you to play some pro skater with him, what would you even do? do you say no? are you gonna tell tony hawk you don't wanna play tony hawk's pro skater? i remember he had a dreamcast and shit on MTV cribs back in the day so you have to use a weird controller, but do you just play normal or do you go full THUG Pro sweatlord? do you give him a copy of Skate?
>>712577158>>712575695My gf is actually a therapist who works at a rehab facility, it's pretty sad how few people are successful on any given intake. But the ones who are motivated make it. She likes to have them physically write out a contract by which they've been living, the dysfunctional rules which they've intuited about the world that have led them down this path. Then she has them ceremonially burn that contract and sit down and write a new one to guide them going forward. The ones who are just going through the motions might think it's lame, but the legit ones who want to turn their lives around really love it.

>>712581084Don't read the spoiler yet.
The board size doesn't matter. Like people want bigger boards for vert or stability while landing or smaller boards which flip easier but that's not anything you have to worry about yet. Stand facing forward with your legs shoulder width apart and then jump and turn yourself sideways in the air and land. Do this right now, no matter where you are. The honest to god best thing to do is just push around mostly. Do tic tacs. Stand on the bolts and weight your front foot and bring the back foot a few inches forward and then weight your back foot and bring the front even and then a few inches forward and set it down, so you're basically just walking the board forward. You'll look like a retard but you'll learn board control. Everyone wants to rush into the tricks but you learn them so much easier if you're comfortable with your balance and weight manipulation while you're moving around on the board.
when you stood facing forward and jumped and turned sideways in the air, whichever leg you brought to the what was your front when you were facing forward is your dominant leg. If it's your left your natural skating position is regular with your left foot on the front of the board, if it was your right leg you're goofy and your right is your leading foot. It will be more comfortable to learn in your natural stance but this is not a scientific test so try both ways.

I think Tony Hawk just spent/spends a lot of time outside so his skin has prematurely aged compared to most of us that spend all our time indoors. When it comes to actual health of the body he's doing fantastic for all the punishment he put his body through.
>>712591968That's exactly it. He's pushing 60, while having spent basically his entire life baking in the unrelenting California Sun on either dry pavement or a beach/ocean water (he was super into Surfing as well).

There's a lot of shit people underestimate the dangers of while skiing.

In 2005, I fucked Mike V on the train tracks behind a Ross Dress for Less. Man, his ass could grip. Real tight, not a hair on it, and a sphincter you could only dream of. I had fun at first. But he was so weirdly macho about it. He kept saying things like "thats right bitch, am I gonna make you nut?" and "fucking fag I bet you can't wait to bust in my fat hairy man ass hahaha faggot". I just ignored him and kept railing. He continued unironically calling me his bitch and a fag as he had several hands free prostate orgasms spilling seminal fluids onto the train tracks, getting more angry and dominant after each one. "Yea i bet you like dudes. You look like a pussy" he'd say "I cant even feel your limpdick bitch." I just kept clapping, wondering wtf is up with him. After about 20 minutes of railing Mike's boypussy, drenched in sweat and his cream, I finally got a nut off despite his constant berating and degrading comments. He immediately hopped off, laid flat on his back and bent his legs over his head so the cum dripped out of his asshole directly into his mouth. "The fuck you looking at? You like this gay boy?" He kept saying. After he got every last drop. He cackled like a rooster and punched me in the face as hard as he could. He nearly broke his hand, but I was fine. "Fucking fag" he said as he limped off into the sunset, shaking his wrist. That was the first and last time I fucked Mike V on the train tracks behind the Ross Dress for Less

>>712629464suffering doesn't build character. both wars left countless people broken and/or starving.
what you're witnessing is survivor bias. harsh conditions and suffering cull the worst-suited so only the best survive. thus it led to a better society overall, but only for the ones who survived. the funny thing is people love to argue at length in favor of culling until, contrary to their expectations, they realize they're part of the culled
>>712581084I'd get an 8.5 (I have size 11.5 feet, an 8.5 deck is a nice all rounder for me), but you can make the most of the 7.5 for getting your basics down like pushing, kickturns, etc. I didn't really start until I was 29 (going to be 34 this year) so here are my tips:
-pads. Wear pads. You already look like a dork but pads will save you from the early hard slams that will scare you away or leave you needing to recover for too long to progress.
-stretch/do warmups. You're going to be using all sorts of weird leg and core muscles you probably never have before, so get ready to feel a real burn, and be cautious about over-doing it early on and straining yourself.
-spend a looong time learning how to push and just rolling around on flat. My rule of thumb is that you should be able to to a running throwdown and be able to stop or run off your board a top speed before you bother with ramps.
-stay low. The instinct when you're in danger as an adult is to stretch your body out to find something to grab and steady yourself. This is the worst position to be in on a skateboard because you'll be top heavy, unstable, and likely to hit the ground very hard if your board slips out from under you. Always get into a bit of a squat when you're doing something scary and dangerous. Your centre of gravity will be lower and more stable and if you slip out, you're closer to the ground and more likely to sort of roll out of the slam naturally. It's a hard habit to learn but always have it to mind when you're scared.
-try endovers and monster walks to get used to pivoting the board. You can look up what those actually are, but they're a simple exercise on balance and will get you used to making quick adjustments.
-pace yourself. You might want to go super hard, super fast, but don't. You need to build up strength and balance and confidence and you're not a child any more, so take it handy. Maybe no more than an hour to and hour and a half 3 times a week to start off.
>>712630150>harsh conditions and suffering cull the worst-suited so only the best surviveThat was only the case for pre-industrial war, post industrial war selects for the dysgenic and the cowardly and sends the best to die against weaponry perfected for ending human life.

>>712644852He's almost 60, man. Of course he looks old. There's nothing wrong with that.
>>712644852What's wrong with looking older?
>he looks like he's about to die and that's fine, sweetie!
lmao the amount of agp trannies ITT who would fuck a dying 60 year old man just to get his inheritance
>>712641452But what about gay levels?
>>712645131He doesn't just look old. He looks full on democrat. Touching kids and letting a black man fuck his wife type of democrat.
>>712645171When you are a 60 yrs old fart the only older there is is the gave.
>>712645715Okay, but what's wrong with looking older? Especially to the point you'd go out of your way to not look older?
>>712645638Good point, I didn't think of that
>>712644742Always remember, when people tell you that finns are crazy, they really mean it and your impression of exactly how insane they are probably isn't strong enough.
>>712644160if you're a faggot sure.
>>712644742With Finns you lose
>>712645720I preordered it when it first went up. I knew it would be more of 1+2 at worst, so I didn't see any reason to wait.
>>712622154I fucking love how most of this footage is over 30 years old, and it’s still some of the very best street skating ever caught on film.
Calling Rodney ahead of his time doesn’t even feel accurate, it’s more like he came from a totally different dimension or something.
>>712646289Boomer you must understand. These little girls are fucking you for your money. You Santa Claus hair looking mummy.
>>712644742 It's not even the sauna that's the craziest part—it's what comes next. Finns will sit in 100°C heat for 20 minutes, then jump into a frozen lake like it's Tuesday. No hesitation. No towel. Just straight up raw humanity. It's like their souls were forged in frost and steam.
>>712646382He invented most of it, of course he's the greatest of all time in that category.
Tony, never die man. You were my childhood. Stop getting older and fix your wrinkles retard. Get out there and skate you fucker.
>>712630868surgeons are pussies and won't risk getting sued to hell and back for malpractice on a high risk low reward surgery. they wouldn't give a fuck if the surgery would help him keep skating, what matters is that he isn't completely debilitated.
i'm glad he added bam and bam returned to the path or reality
>>712573264>>712573767>>712575695I personally think it's really funny that Bam has been sober for like a year and has clearly lost all the booze weight but people still think he's a drunk just because they expect him to suddenly look 25 years old again instead of looking like every other aging gen x punk
>get older
>all your heroes just make you feel existential dread now
fuck man
>>712621291Here is the finnish guy that went the distance with the russian. Pretty good recovery considering he burnt like all of his skin.
>>712571463tony alva still skates anon
>>712648391People get old when they die.
>>712648391https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG95AZf7B9Q
idk it kind of does the opposite for me. if tom penny, gonz and the hawkman are still skating as old fucks then my days aren't so numbered.
>>712629480night is the most comfy time to skate
