Cool, Tony Hawk now has gray hair just like me. It has been 20-25 years since we were at the pinnacle of THPS/"action sports" popularity after all.
Here's hoping we at least get remakes/remasters of THUG and THUG2, not that any of the games needed a remaster in the first place IMO

Literally every older skater that refused protective padding because it was "gay" is now retired.

Seriously, wearing pads isn't a big deal. Maybe it adds a little weight, maybe it changes a bit of balance, but you can work with it.

The contrast between Tony Hawk and Bam strikes me as kind of hilarious. Tony Hawk's got that family friendly look going on. He looks like the kind of guy who'd be talking to kids in a PSA about the dangers of drugs, how they should look both ways before they cross the street, how they should brush and floss their teeth twice a day, and the importance of staying active and exercising. Bam looks like the kind of guy that if parents saw their kids talking to they'd immediately grab them, walk away quickly, and call the cops.

I'm a THUG supremacist but 4 might be one of my favorites as well. I just never really liked the "do everything within 2 minutes GO" of the first three games, and THPS4 at least made those missions such as high score runs and SKATE things you had to start yourself.
Story is super cheesy and campy of course but I always liked it, too.
>>712573132
It's a sad inevitability of any game with a licensed soundtrack but definitely annoying. You can throw on a THPS4 playlist in the background, of course, but having to do that while still paying money for the "remaster" sucks especially considering zoomers will miss out on the soul of the original soundtrack.
>supposedly no AC/DC, no TNT
>the entire "unlock all" cheat being tied to the code "watch_me_xplode", a direct lyric from that song
I'm guessing the original cheats won't be in the game either, in that case.

I really don't see Bam getting sober and turning his life around any time soon. He just keeps going to rehab, relapsing, going back to rehab, relapsing, and going to rehab again. I've been in recovery for over 5 years now and it's one of the things I've recognized as someone just going through the motions of trying to look like they're making an effort to get clean but is only doing it because they're being pressured by family, friends, or employers rather than doing it because they actually want to get sober. Rehab will sober you up and you can go there as many times as you like (or at least as many times as your insurance and finances will allow you) but it's never what will keep you sober.

Becoming sober is completely possible, many have done it. But you're right, the person needs to have a real desire to get over the addiction.

Just going through the routine because of social pressure isn't enough. He really needs to look in the mirror and think and believe "I don't want to do this anymore."

My gf is actually a therapist who works at a rehab facility, it's pretty sad how few people are successful on any given intake. But the ones who are motivated make it. She likes to have them physically write out a contract by which they've been living, the dysfunctional rules which they've intuited about the world that have led them down this path. Then she has them ceremonially burn that contract and sit down and write a new one to guide them going forward. The ones who are just going through the motions might think it's lame, but the legit ones who want to turn their lives around really love it.

Tony needs to take a page from Bam. If people see Bam at an airport, they'll immediately recognize him because he'll be completely shitfaced and straddling a TSA officer alternating between punching the shit out of the guy and puking on him because they found several grams of heroin when they ran his carry on through the x-ray and tried to confiscate it. If Tony Hawk did that a few times people would recognize him more often.

Don't read the spoiler yet.
The board size doesn't matter. Like people want bigger boards for vert or stability while landing or smaller boards which flip easier but that's not anything you have to worry about yet. Stand facing forward with your legs shoulder width apart and then jump and turn yourself sideways in the air and land. Do this right now, no matter where you are. The honest to god best thing to do is just push around mostly. Do tic tacs. Stand on the bolts and weight your front foot and bring the back foot a few inches forward and then weight your back foot and bring the front even and then a few inches forward and set it down, so you're basically just walking the board forward. You'll look like a retard but you'll learn board control. Everyone wants to rush into the tricks but you learn them so much easier if you're comfortable with your balance and weight manipulation while you're moving around on the board.
when you stood facing forward and jumped and turned sideways in the air, whichever leg you brought to the what was your front when you were facing forward is your dominant leg. If it's your left your natural skating position is regular with your left foot on the front of the board, if it was your right leg you're goofy and your right is your leading foot. It will be more comfortable to learn in your natural stance but this is not a scientific test so try both ways.

>I'm guessing the original cheats won't be in the game either, in that case.
There were a couple of cheats in 1+2, but you had to unlock them, so it seems likely that they would bring those back, but they never had the typing in codes cheats.

the all time greatest example of his has to be Rodney Mullen, who was using his car's wheel wells to basically torture himself in an attempt to stop his hips from basically fusing together.

He learned to do this at 3 am, in basically the most deserted places in LA because otherwise his screams of agony were so loud it would attract cops, and he had no fucking way of explaining what he was doing to himself that didn't make him look insane.

People are valuing having more stability over being able to flip your board fast. "Tech" flip-in-flip-out stuff isn't as fashionable at the moment. I just clicked on a random brand and not a single one is 8.0. There is one "mini" and one 7.81 but out of the several dozen other models they are all bigger.

As far as skiers and snowboarders, I think a lot of them just underestimate how bad a fall while skiing can be. They probably just think "Oh it's just snow how bad could falling be", not realizing that hitting your head on corduroy pattern snow, packed snow, or especially icy snow can give you a really nasty concussion. There's a lot of shit people underestimate the dangers of while skiing.
Especially tree wells. The one fatality I encountered while I was a volunteer ski patrol was a guy who decided to go off the trails and through the trees. Dude fell head first into a tree well, got stuck, and suffocated before we found him

When you realize theyre talking to you about it as more they are self reassuring their sobriety it becomes less annoying and you just nod and smile cause why not if it helps them stay away from their demons

> I lost interest in the franchise because of THPS4/THUG ditching the 2 minute format.
I think the free roam approach is better. I think part of the reason I never cared for the 2-minute timer is that it never really felt relevant. Only the high score challenge justified the timer, all the other ones are just a matter of restarting the level and only focusing on that if you want. And when you are in the zone and having a blast, being kicked out of it just feels terrible. The timer didn't really add much.

In 2005, I fucked Mike V on the train tracks behind a Ross Dress for Less. Man, his ass could grip. Real tight, not a hair on it, and a sphincter you could only dream of. I had fun at first. But he was so weirdly macho about it. He kept saying things like "thats right bitch, am I gonna make you nut?" and "fucking fag I bet you can't wait to bust in my fat hairy man ass hahaha faggot". I just ignored him and kept railing. He continued unironically calling me his bitch and a fag as he had several hands free prostate orgasms spilling seminal fluids onto the train tracks, getting more angry and dominant after each one. "Yea i bet you like dudes. You look like a pussy" he'd say "I cant even feel your limpdick bitch." I just kept clapping, wondering wtf is up with him. After about 20 minutes of railing Mike's boypussy, drenched in sweat and his cream, I finally got a nut off despite his constant berating and degrading comments. He immediately hopped off, laid flat on his back and bent his legs over his head so the cum dripped out of his asshole directly into his mouth. "The fuck you looking at? You like this gay boy?" He kept saying. After he got every last drop. He cackled like a rooster and punched me in the face as hard as he could. He nearly broke his hand, but I was fine. "Fucking fag" he said as he limped off into the sunset, shaking his wrist. That was the first and last time I fucked Mike V on the train tracks behind the Ross Dress for Less

For me it was a miniskirt. Yes, you can see pantyshots in all classic TH games with customization. There's even a very obscure secret where you can choose a grey skin option for your character (you can tweak the color separately so it looks like human), this way she won't have white panties, it'll be black down there, almost like thick pubes.

That's because people don't exercise frequently, eat garbage food along with vices such as smoking, drinking and staying up all night. I believe the millennials will come out a lot better since they avoid many of the things either by choice, or because its too expensive to do all of that shit. Zoomers should follow suit.

Money inflates to shit if you don't deal with it properly, if it's not invested in an asset or into something that brings returns, you'll quickly find yourself poor again. A lot of lower class people who stumble into vast wealth end up that way because they simply don't know how to manage a fortune to make it self sustaining or they whittle it down spending it on stupid shit. Honestly in his case I think they just approached him for the gig and he saw no reason to say no, money is money and he's got the time on his hands.

Zoomers are already way ahead of the curve on avoiding vices since they can't afford groceries, they just need to stop doing galaxy gas or whatever the fuck that mixture is they like to huff instead of drinking, smoking and getting high. On the flipside, not being able to afford anything means you can't afford decent food either, most people eat like shit these days, especially since even most normal foods, at least in america, are pumped full of literal poison.

suffering doesn't build character. both wars left countless people broken and/or starving.
what you're witnessing is survivor bias. harsh conditions and suffering cull the worst-suited so only the best survive. thus it led to a better society overall, but only for the ones who survived. the funny thing is people love to argue at length in favor of culling until, contrary to their expectations, they realize they're part of the culled

I'd get an 8.5 (I have size 11.5 feet, an 8.5 deck is a nice all rounder for me), but you can make the most of the 7.5 for getting your basics down like pushing, kickturns, etc. I didn't really start until I was 29 (going to be 34 this year) so here are my tips:

-pads. Wear pads. You already look like a dork but pads will save you from the early hard slams that will scare you away or leave you needing to recover for too long to progress.
-stretch/do warmups. You're going to be using all sorts of weird leg and core muscles you probably never have before, so get ready to feel a real burn, and be cautious about over-doing it early on and straining yourself.
-spend a looong time learning how to push and just rolling around on flat. My rule of thumb is that you should be able to to a running throwdown and be able to stop or run off your board a top speed before you bother with ramps.
-stay low. The instinct when you're in danger as an adult is to stretch your body out to find something to grab and steady yourself. This is the worst position to be in on a skateboard because you'll be top heavy, unstable, and likely to hit the ground very hard if your board slips out from under you. Always get into a bit of a squat when you're doing something scary and dangerous. Your centre of gravity will be lower and more stable and if you slip out, you're closer to the ground and more likely to sort of roll out of the slam naturally. It's a hard habit to learn but always have it to mind when you're scared.
-try endovers and monster walks to get used to pivoting the board. You can look up what those actually are, but they're a simple exercise on balance and will get you used to making quick adjustments.
-pace yourself. You might want to go super hard, super fast, but don't. You need to build up strength and balance and confidence and you're not a child any more, so take it handy. Maybe no more than an hour to and hour and a half 3 times a week to start off.

Depending on the joints it happens to, surgical intervention is common, but surgeons will generally avoid the hips because the femur joint is buried in tissue surgeons have to dig past without damaging too badly. It's generally not considered worth attempting invasive surgery there.

Dude had to manually grind his bones down against each other to free them of calcification and break the scar tissue around it. Horrific, agonising shit. Most people would just live with the decreased range of motion.

It's usually not even a problem for most people because most people down wear their fucking limbs down like this in the modern age. It's really only common for those in sports or other physically demanding professions, and even at that you'd pretty much just retire before it gets as bad as Rodney's issue was. Fucker was clearly built different since he subjected himself to that treatment every day for almost two years.

I'm told that grinding your bones together is a pain like no other, he did that. For two god damned years. Just to keep skating. Fuck.

He had an episode on the Tony Hawk/Jason Ellis podcast where he talks about skating in London at 4 in the morning, often in the pouring rain because London, and he would usually take his shirt off because he doesn’t like getting his shirt wet.
At one point, he talked about how the rain made his kickflips look really cool, because he could see it flick rain drops off his board and they would spray everywhere, and how it also made landing into a primo slide really fun.
At that point, both Tony and Jason stared at him like he was a fucking lunatic.

Rodney has always had a brilliant mind. Like in the 90’s, he had to make a choice between going full time pro-skater or staying in college to get his masters degree. And it was far from an easy choice for the guy, because at the time he was genuinely as passionate about his academic career as he was about skating.

surgeons are pussies and won't risk getting sued to hell and back for malpractice on a high risk low reward surgery. they wouldn't give a fuck if the surgery would help him keep skating, what matters is that he isn't completely debilitated.

I personally think it's really funny that Bam has been sober for like a year and has clearly lost all the booze weight but people still think he's a drunk just because they expect him to suddenly look 25 years old again instead of looking like every other aging gen x punk

idk it kind of does the opposite for me. if tom penny, gonz and the hawkman are still skating as old fucks then my days aren't so numbered.
