What have you played before? If you're on PC try the convergence mod imo, you get a ton more build variety there and it's really fun.

My last playthrough was using the moonlight greatsword, back when the DLC got released. So pretty much a vanilla experience. What does Convergence change exactly? (aside from itemization)

dungeons and areas, changed the overworld design, added over 100 spells, added talismans, weapons, armor, bosses, no random drops, custom 'classes', weapon balancing, etc there's a shitton of stuff in there
