The actual FPS gameplay isn't too deep, but you will get fucked up majorly if you're not paying attention on hard mode. Though I will admit playing on hard doesn't make the game more complex, it just makes enemies have more health and do more damage.

Most of the 'tactical' gameplay is just using the right grenade/weapon for the situation. Actually issuing commands to the squad ranges in usefulness from 'they wiped out every enemy' and 'it was actually a hindrance'. It's a very linear game and I wouldn't recommend playing it if you're not into the concept or atmosphere.
