Geoff did nothing.
You people seem to forget games are a very mainstream thing now. It is popular to like games, so, games event have more viewership and catch more attention than E3 and other shit from 10 decades ago

Geoff is my friend. I actually like him. He's enthusiastic and he drops some pretty good zingers from time to time. A showman of yore.

It's really easy to fake "engagement numbers" when you can just hire botfarms to fake views...or, yknow, just make up numbers. Who'll know?

There's no more E3 and it took people a while to realise this was the replacement.

It's a real shame though because even at its worst, E3 was better than SGF.

Not that hard. He just opened his basket to catch the rainfall of another events downfall.

I unironically like Geoff. He's worked hard to get to where he's at now and I can respect it, he did good work covering video games early in his career (boomers will know him from Electronic Playground). You zoomers won't know the hell that was the Spike TV era for Geoff, he got so much hate at the time. But it was one of those necessary evils he had to do in order to get to where he's at today. The dude clearly loves video games, and he's had to navigate the shitty, complicated business of packaging up a show that can actually sustain itself.

Crazy how Team Cherry never bothered to promote it there, knowing the game might come out this year. I guess they're confident enough with the shadowdrop or something.

there arent enough games to have 2 dorito pope shows a year, just kill summer game fest and put the trailers in the game awards.

There was an element where people got to play new shit on the show floor and report back but the idea that any new game is exciting enough to want to hear second hand impressions of it in 2025 is kind of ridiculous. I dont know why people moan about the loss of e3 for any other reason because what we have is basically identical to what used to exist, its just trailer shows hosted by each publisher.

the industry has such low quantity and quality of output id rather they stop hosting individual shows and just give the trailers to Keighley to host a quick 1 hour show a year.

there's too many trailers for it to be one hour, I think the keighley show was 2 and it wasn't like they were stretching to fill time egregiously at any point
it should just be two days over a weekend consisting of a handful of hour-long showcases and with maybe longer demos of shit in between
there's still a market for it obviously, I think it should just go back to being a loose collection of things that happen rather than a wannabe-tv broadcast award show
