You should just try again but on Normal difficulty or something. I think the Solo Outbreak experience isn't too bad honestly if you're in the mood for more classic RE. I did a solo playthrough of both about a year ago, enjoyed it.

That flashback has an entire DLC to show you what happened there, it's called "Lost in Nightmares". You will need to play it to understand the story of Revelations 2.

Much better than 1, focusing on less characters and having less plot twists was a good decision
Thought I was gonna hate Moira but she became my favorite
Barry sections were cool and I liked how doing stuff in the Claire section changed things up for him
