Cheap shit. Price for performance is better. But the best products they offer are inferior.

nvidia only cares about AI anymore. More profit. Gaming is an afterthought if they think about it at all.
And AMD is focusing on mid-level integrated shit.
So kinda sucks for the average PC gamer that wants high tier performance without AI crazy inflated prices. Great for poors who have a limited budget, go AMD. Or for rich fucks who will buy nvidia regardless of how high the price goes.

Because AMD is cheap and both Sony & MS were burnt out from doing businesses with Nvidia in the past. Intel is expensive and only recently joined the competition again starting with Meteor Lake. Nintendo is the only outlier since they dont care about bleeding edge specs so they went with custom Nvidia ARM SoC.

and somehow still beats AMD in performance. Why is that?

AMD has the better tech.

They have the best CPU architecture, extremely good GPU architecture and they are also the only company in the world that combine high-end CPU cores with high-end GPU cores into a single package ("SoC") with a high-speed interconnect architecture ("infinity fabric").

The real answer that /v/ is too retarded to understand is AMD will do custom work for people and take the smaller margins the console contracts allow for. In the here and now with the scalability of their chiplet IP they can build out basically anything you want with relative ease and don't need to give a fuck about a lot of traditional hurdles. Packaging can still be a bitch though.

There is a reason why Intel went down the tile route as well.

nvidia is too expensive and shitty to work with (YLOD in ps3s was their fault, apple got fucked over too) so everyone goes to amd instead. intel is bad at grafix so nobody bothers with them either

They're in a sweet spot atm. nVidia and Intel are probably the closest, but the former will rugpull and screw you on production while the latter has shit for graphics IP blocks. AMD is like the Linux of hardware: it's not that they're actually good, it's just that they're in a holding pattern while everybody else races to suck as hard as possible.
