Kumyabe will do it. He was Itsuno's protege and was subtly hinting that they're working on the next game.

Great combat system, but the linear levels and the only 2 kind of stages (brown destroyed city and brown caves) really killed my vibe.

Ok... so? It's Capcum, they're obviously still not satisfied with DMC series sales despite how many gorillions they sold. This is why they're shitting out MH and RE slop instead.

The last DMC game was 6 years ago. We're halfway to the DMC4 -> DMC5 time gap of 11 years.

Strong lifetime sales are still important. It shows the franchise is accruing many new fans and that people care about the franchise.
This means that DMC6 is likely to have even bigger launch sales than DMC5.

Capcom had no idea DMC5 would be as big as it ended up being. It was literally a hail mary for the franchise. Capcom knows RE and MH will sell so they have several projects cooking like 5+ years in advance.

Doesn't really matter much. DMC doesn't have the sales to be prioritized against another AAA project. Capcom can instead make another guaranteed large hit like Resident Evil or Monster Hunter or try to bet on a new franchise.

Not to mention all the goodwill DMC5 generated was used on Dragon's Dogma 2 and DD2 didn't generate any additional goodwill in return.

The game being designed with real fully integrated coop has the high potential to ruin the single player experience. DMC is one of the last classic big single player franchises left.

Ragnarok costs 200 million in development while DMC5 was somewhere around 25 million. So even if DMC5 made considerable less revenue the profit margins are still nice and the risk to make another game are relatively low.

Meanwhile Sony is getting internally killed by these huge ass super long development time ultra budget movie games because they are always super high risk and take ages to come out and each new installment takes even more budget.

Just bolt on co-op as an unlock for when you beat a difficulty and lock out scores saving. Also yes, co-op BP should be the focus if they're doing co-op. Custom BP too.

Because Capcom rushes games out for shareholders when they clearly need more time in the oven. It's not an Itsuno thing, it's a Capcom thing.
They do it with RE, they do it with MH, they do it with all their big games really.
The impact is not as noticeable on a game like DMC5 because it's a much smaller and more linear game.
Huge games like DD2 and MHWilds are very noticeably affected by this sort of release.

Because Itsuno's focus on polished gameplay translates extremely badly to ARPG's due to their focus on size and content. DMC is a linear focused action game, it can be made with a relatively small team and budget. I know DD2 was fucked when Itsuno said he wanted it to be Capcom's own GTAV in terms of ambition and interactivty. Its way too big of an undertaking. DD2 is a classic case of a game dev biting off more than they can chew

You guys are aware that Capcom has been saying this for almost a decade in their investor relations documents for investors that this is literally the reason why they're progressively more and more successful each year?

RE7 was the prime example of this, it underperformed on launch, but the reason it's considered so successful, is because it keeps selling at least 1 million each fiscal year since launch.

Discounts drive sales.
