I don't remember anything in Ciel explicitly relating to AT but you will be missing a bit out on trying to draw parallels and figuring out how they relate while playing Ciel. They play in the same universe.
Bigger issue is that you should play them before Ar Nosurge, the sequel to Ciel, and after finishing Ciel you probably won''t feel like putting them inbetween

From what I know the whole thing w/ the game is (you) are communicating with ion through a machine linking our worlds togethher. She has no clue who tf you really are, so in that sense gender neutral makes sense
However, the game was very much designed for a male audience and assumes as much w/ the whole husband thing the other thing mentioned, so switching to gender neutral sours it

At least I'm pretty sure I didn't have to download all the world pack story chapters when I was playing the offline version a few years ago.
