Kris surviving temporarily and acting without their SOUL makes sense based on Flowey's account in Undertale. Kris's body would naturally contain their "essence" or "will," and it could be animated by residual Determination, similarly to how "Asriel" was "resurrected" as Flowey when the flower infused with his essence was injected with Determination. Kris wouldn't immediately revert to an amoral sociopath without their SOUL, even if they can't feel love without it they still know how they should feel and act, and they also don't have any of Flowey's looper megalomania to detach themself from their situation.
That's just explaining how Kris acts when they rip us out though, Kris ALWAYS being without a soul doesn't make any sense.

Neither game is that hard, but Deltarune has harder bullet patterns and attacks from bosses and enemies chapter 2 regular enemies are roughly on par with enemies from the Core, chapter 4 enemies surpass everything undertale has to offer outside of a few select bosses towards the end of the game, but Deltarune also feels easier in some regards since you have three people to work with instead of one.

Yes, I completely agree. That's the problem. Deltarune literally is third entity, if you accept that the SOUL is Kris like I do then I don't understand how you can possibly deny it. As you say, the SOUL is the true human and the true essence of a person. That's what we're piloting around. In Undertale, the thing we were controlling was Frisk's SOUL. Frisk's body was just a vessel for it. The SOUL was a character in and of itself, not a mouse cursor.
When the SOUL is ripped out of Kris's body in Deltarune, however, there's SOMETHING still there, controlling the empty husk. Something that can play the piano, and that Noelle recognises as the Kris she grew up with. Who the fuck is that? If we're not controlling Kris, who the FUCK is the SOUL that we're controlling? Because it's not a representation of the player, and all the schizos treat it like it's the real Kris.
