It's the weekend so you now have time to explain yourself. What is it about the Switch 2 you don't like? It's exactly what you asked for, which is a stronger and slightly bigger Switch. So what's the problem you have with it?

Millions among millions did and if you were around at all and paid any attention, you'd know the biggest ask for the next Nintendo console was a more powerful that was a little bit bigger so it more comfortable to play. That's what they did.

I like it, though.

But I will say: It seems like the reasons people are hating on it fall into 3 camp, beyond just that it's new and they want to stir the pot (which is the reasoning for why they're as loud as they are). People who are fans of other consoles and want to hate on it for the sake of hating it, people who don't have the money for it, or people who have been swayed by one of the other 2 groups and are just plodding along like sheep. The last two groups will sometimes try to grand stand on morals for whatever reason because apparently buying video games needs to be a moral issue. Basically, give it time and people will shut up about it or give up. Especially if the release is actually strong. Fanboys will probably continue to war, but it'll be more quiet and the other two groups will either fold or will realize they're being sheep and will just slowly shut up about it out of embarrassment.

The switch 2 itself seems pretty cool. There just isn't enough to entice me over. I don't give a shit about MKW's free roam mode, I would rather the focus went into the tracks. I hate that I'd feel pressured to buy the bundle just to avoid paying $80 separately. I might avoid it on principle. I hate that paid online is still a thing. The fact that switch 1 games are 720p in handheld mode is retarded. There still seems to be some backwards compat. issues, like with Pikmin 3, but I expect they'll fix that. Maybe in a few years when they have some compelling games for it, I'll jump in.

It's not that I don't like it, I just know I won't use it. I already barely use my Switch 1 and it only use that to old NES, Sega and N64 games on. Sometimes even some Gameboy/GBA games. I don't play modern Nintendo's stuff enough to care about a "new [insert Nintendo franchise]" anymore and the stuff I did try from them I didn't really click with.

Just wanted to let you know, as someone who owns MKW, the tracks have plenty of love put into them. All of the returning tracks are completely redone and the new tracks are incredibly well done. The straight line meme is just a meme. The tracks themselves have a ton of attention put into them, and then the courses that go from one track to another in grandprix tend to be more straight, but even then they aren't completely.

Also, the 720p in handheld thing has a reason for it. The games have to do that if they don't have Switch 2 updates because if they ran at 1080 natively they'd think they were in docked mode and you'd lose touchscreen functionality. Apparently, that;s just how Switch 1 games were coded. I don't know how many people actually use the touchscreen for switch games (I don't), but I get that it's a justifiable issue if the number is even one person.

>What is it about the Switch 2 you don't like
I like the switch 2 it's Mario Kart World I'm very sort of underwhelmed with it's not even bad now that I really sank my teeth into it. My biggest complaint is that they're now married to the hold to drift instead of the flicker drift from double dash and mario kart DS. It makes the game sort of unengaging, yeah yeah I know there's shit flying all over the place but with flicker drift you could boost dash to dodge shit. The wall ride and grind also feels nerfed for a new feature since you can't wall ride at high speeds from a hop you need to perform a charged hop where in most cases just doing a drift into full charge would probably serve better. Most of the places you can grind you can simply access while driving due to positioning but I thought you'd be able to grind way more things. You don't even get out of the way of red shells by grinding though since they track up the grind rail making it higher risk since you can be dropped requiring a lakitu save. They've been doing this since the wii and 3ds titles so I don't know what I expected. I'm hoping kirby air riders will be the high skill cieling kart type game I'm waiting for.

It doesn't have enough games at launch. I'll get it when more come out. I bought a Wii U because tons of companies advertised games for it, and many of which just waited for the jump to Switch instead. I'll wait until there's a good base of games to play on here, and no, Switch 1 games are not an advertisement. Same deal with Wii U games on Switch. Dong Freeze doesn't count as a Switch game because I already played it on Wii U.

No worries.

Also, while I agree it's not a great reason (the 720p thing), I'm at least willing to be understanding about it. It might be fixed in the future, it might not. The updates fix it and that's at least a step in the right direction because the majority of them are free and it means that they see the problem.

It's up there with the "key cartridge" thing. I see the issue and I see that it's a solution for a difficult problem. Doesn't make it right, but I feel like it's understandable. The issue with Keycarts being that Nintendo is only producing 64gig cartridges right now and companies that want to release 11gig games don't want to pay for that much empty space. So they offered an alternative for that handful of games that's clearly last minute where the companies that otherwise wouldn't have been able to release their stuff on launch can release it on launch but in a less than stellar way. We'll probably get normal physical releases for those games in the future the same way there might be an update to the console in the future to play handheld switch games in 1080. But we'll just have to see.

Switch 2 is underpowered and holding back graphics and PS5 has actual games like TLOU2 instead of bing bing wahoo slop. The only reason to buy a Switch 2 at the moment, and probably until the end of this year at least, will be as an upgrade for Switch 1 games. I personally play games that don't require a lot of hardware (I play those on PC), so for me it made a lot more sense to buy a Hori Split Pad Pro (pic related) so I could use my Switch 1 again after the two Joy-Cons became basically unusable (drift, buttons sinking, disconnecting from the tablet all the time, R and L not working 75% of the time I press them, etc.).
I'll only consider the Switch 2 in 2 or 3 years, when the game library is more established. I would buy one to have a slightly better experience on Switch 1 games if it were $350 (Japanese price) at most, and if Nintendo weren't so anti-consumer (games for $80 is unacceptable to me).

For indies and older games I have a Deck, so I'm basically in the Switch ecosystem for the first party games and stuff like Unicorn Overlord at this point.

Yes, but you get passive improvements such as shorter loading times, more stable frame rates, etc. In some games, this can be significant. For example, I have A-Train for the Switch, which is a simulation game, and the Switch 1 suffers a lot because of the weak CPU. The fast forward simulation, for example, is super slow, but I've seen people who play the game saying that it's 2x faster on the Switch 2.

It's only the battery life being a downgrade compared to the Switch OLED for me. It forces to disable HDR, 120hz and go airplane mode in order to save up as much as possible.
I have also a few games incompatible with the current state of the BC such as Yomawari 3, Crash Bandicoot Nsane Trilogy, Nier Automata, Gensokyo TOD Reloaded, etc. but it's gonna be fixed over time.

What is hard to understand about that?

Nothing? Like you said it's quite literally exactly what I wanted, even the games that got patched seem specifically tailored to me

I have one and one problem is that it weighs more so playing in handheld mode is a little more uncomfortable. Maybe I'll get used to it over time.

Overly expensive, barely innovative, rehash of the Switch but this time with no games.

Only one small thing I can think of that I don't like:

It doesn't remember which account last played a game like the first Switch so you have to make sure you're picking the right account each time. You can change the order of the accounts, though, so that kind of makes it better.

fine. I realize this is merely a troll/bait thread but fuck it ill be straightforward and honest.
1. Nothing about the switch 2 is impressive or innovative. It cant do anything interesting any basic bitch PC can do.
2. Nintendo died with Iwata. Even if I gave a shit about this switch 2 the company itself has become so absurdly repugnant that id avoid it anyway. Lawfair intead of innovation and good business is shit. Palworld stands as an example. They patented shit AFTER Palworld released and then sued them. I lack the words for such despicable actions.
3. Subscriptions. Every thing is a fucking monthly charge with these fuckers. Goddamn meanwhile a PC charges me monthly for nothing but an internet connection.
4. Software. The only reason to care is exclusives....basically software held ransom. You could sell this shit on Steam or GoG and make bank but instead of just selling me games i need to buy your super special jewbox and a subcription plan? Why other than greed? your system does nothing any other system cant do so why should i buy it and give money to a walled garden? Whats in it for me? What if i want to play online with gamers using OTHER systems? We all need your underpowered jew-box? Fuck that shit.
So yeah. theres just nothing compelling about the switch and several factors actively pushing me away from it.
Id be happy to make a purchase from Nintendo if there was a decent reason to do so. But Nintendo would rather do fuck all and sue all competition than actually try and sell me a decent product.
Now feel free to give me shitty insincere responses. its 4chins i know there will be no good conversation here.

I just want themes and more costumization. Since they made those FOMO profile icons in the switch+ shop, then I guess they're at least aware people want that.

What I said originally with bots and trolls is still true, but I wanted to be more specific instead of general.

Drifting every turn isn't the meta anymore. It's not worth it unless you can get a stage 2 turbo, and fairly quickly. Drifting all the way across the road taking the turn as wide as possible to get a stage 3 will put you behind. Basically drifting is for tight turns, otherwise you need to have the best possible driving line and hit short cuts. Also, drifting during you turbo will kill it so you need be even more mindful about when you are drifting and what turns you take normally

Without good Nintendo games, Nintendo hardware can't exist. Being able to continue their business model is what drives them to make good games since they know it is the only thing keeping their platform going. Remove that motivation and you allow them to cut more corners than they already do. It is a case where them being greedy works out well for us too since we get better games out of it. It is no surprise that other platforms have gone down hill after they were able to coast by on third party sales with no need to make or fund exclusive games. That said, Nintendo is also getting too complacent with the Switch performing too well, so we would benefit from them having a more difficult time with the Switch 2.

Instead of Mario Kart World, you have Sonic Crossworlds.

Instead of Metroid Prime 4, you have Starfield or The Outer Worlds 2

Instead of Pokemon Violet, you have Palworld and Aniimo

Instead of F-Zero, you have Forza and "The Crew"

Instead of a new 3D Zelda, you have Elden Ring which is also on the Switch 2

You have no substitute for 3D Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Splatoon, Pikmin or Animal Crossing. Also NSO allows access to NES-Gamecube games without needing to find and install emulators and find ROM (which is shady to do in the first place). Just things to remember
