it's great, the problem is that it's being used almost exclusively for cinematic games
if it was being used for arcade-like beat-em-up ludo then I wouldn't mind

What I don't get is why modern AA/AAA titles ditched fixed cameras considering how obsessed they are with the cinematic experience. It'd allow more creative and interesting set pieces.

fixed cameras are retarded because they're too far away from what the character is doing so it makes me feel like im watching someone else play my game

Take old Silent Hill games, they allowed tank and 2D control schemes. I don't think it's inviable to mix fixed cameras with modern sensibilities.

It was a limit of technology not a feature. Wrenching control from the player to control what they see is also really bad.

I think it takes you away from the horror. For example, if dead Space (original) 1 was fps I would have fullblown have to change my pants. But as it was, all I did was cry and scream a little

I feel its designed to simultaneously have your character take up as much of the screen as possible while being as distracting as possible when you turn around and the camera has to change. I hate it and it gets in the way of playing the game.

No anon, you are the zoomer that thinks everything needs to cater to them, like you've been told your whole sad life you are the apple of the world, everything circles around you and you are sooo important.
You get unreasonably angry at things you don't like because your life is so empty and sad you can't focus on things you like, because there is nothing other than jealousy and anger.

It's an invention for underpowered consoles because it allows you to get away with a super narrow field, requiring less shit to render, without looking awkward. You can't have a FPS with 50° FOV.
