Nintendo as a whole was ALWAYS for babies and children under 10. There's a reason Pokemon still holds your hand like showing you effective attacks now, Kirby you're literally indestructible, and Mario and DK games effectively have infinite lives and retries. Nothing this company makes is meant to be a challenge, it's a "oh look at pretty colors and silly characters" machine. Hell, even the new Zelda slop is closer to Minecraft than the original games. If you actively choose to drop $500+ on the Switch 2, you get what you deserve.

I don’t think that’s true. SNES and NES Mario was difficult. No child was beating that game. Same with old DK games. They’re the origin of the notoriously frustrating “precision” platformer genre. Nintendo games always had a lighthearted artstyle but they definitely began leaning hard on braindead gameplay in the late 90s and early 2000s to shift their main market to a younger age group

Consider for a moment the new MarioKart game. The new gimmick is "drive on any surface! Do more tricks! Go fast!" But the actual implications of this are there are now just fewer obstacles. Before, hitting a wall or a tree was a problem. It made you stop and lose ground. Now? Just press a button and get even more speed. There's many fewer obstacles because of the new "keep driving" button. Hell, they reduced the amount of time you spend on the actual difficult courses and have you driving straightaways, literal "don't push anything and win" tracks, for a majority of GPs. Baby-ified as hell.
