It's a short, linear storygame with a shit story. The gameplay is like modern resident evil games except instead of horror monsters it's just generic akrid mooks.
There's basically nothing about it that resembles the gameplay of the first two Lost Planets. It's not even the same genre. The setting is a hard reboot that takes out most of what made LP's setting unique and turns it into dadcore about some tragic family man off to scifi Alaska to work a scifi oil rig who has to slowly discover that the faceless profit-driven extraction corporation he works for is LE BAD because despite having a 3 in its title the game is desperate for you to have not played the previous two games and is just a shallow rehash of the premise with a radically less interesting execution and long-tedious monologues by overly serious characters.

Aside from just not being anything like Lost Planet, it's just plain bad. It was like half a decade late to the dadcore storygame genre and had absolutely nothing interesting to say or do with it.

It's the only Lost Planet game that is actually worth playing. Lost Planet 1 and 2 are trash games with garbage stories. That's the simple reality of the situation. It was written by the same people who wrote Deus Ex 1 and the new God of War games.

That said, LP3 is unpolished. But it's an unpolished gem vs the absolute trash of the first two games. So it wins by default.

What do you mean? It's one of the originators. It's by the same people who made the new God of War games. Nu-God of War is literally the Lost Planet 3-ification of the God of War series, and this game released almost a decade earlier.

LP2 kind of checks all the boxes. It's a pve coop multiplayer game that's somehow kept a hardcore fanbase and some stable activity for years and years. Capcom is probably looking at it right now and wondering if they could make their own Nightreign with this.

I played it on Playstation Now and enjoyed it for what it was.Nothing special, but I liked the story, characters and traversing around in the mech. It was cozy.
