I loved dmc1 but couldn't get into 3 at all. I didn't even get past like 3 or 4 hours before dropping it. I finished dmc4 and dmc5 but only thought they were ok compared to 1 which I really liked. I dropped 2 after an hour or 2.

Not necessarily hardest, but the most time consuming for me as a kid was the flying centipede boss. I figured I could win the fight by just being high up on the balconies and spamming Ebony & Ivory. Took like a half hour-40mins but I didn't get hit.
Then I realized if you just fucking play the game like it's supposed to be played and go down and hack n slash it, you can easily kill the thing. I felt like a fool when I finally did that. It's a curse I have. I always play games conservatively. Like if I take a lick of damage, I feel like I majorly fucked up, even if I chunked the enemy down a lot. It's a weird quirk I have.

NTA, but Arkham and Arkham 2 are anti-fun. Every other boss is intuitive, but him..He's just fucking all over the place. His tentacles are retarded and only account for RG and Trickster, otherwise I can't see anyone i-frame jumping them or just out-roll them. His ads are gay, and his 2nd phase literally takes away your style. It would be cool if I had a friend on stand-by to help me shred him, but otherwise I don't know how you could SS this boss.
Absolute cancer, even Lady with all her jank is a much better fight.

As far as hardest? I'd say probably Agni and Rudra, and possibly the Vergil fight when he has Beowulf as a second.
I know some might ask how I struggled with those, but the Agni and Rudra fight always messed with me. Especially before I learned to chunk them down separately or they'll combine and then you're really fucked. But even when I chunk them down at equal levels, having to deal with two of them was difficult for me.
I put the Vergil/Beowulf fight in second because it's offset with Vergil's moveset. His movesets are more built around yours and vice versa. It's a more fair match, and my favorite ones because of that. And by "fair" I don't mean easier. I mean the movesets are easily able to beat the other one. One screw up on either side, and the other side can rekk him. It's a very satisfying fight.

You can kite A&R to hit eachother, also clash parrying opens them up to being attacked. Most of their attacks are very well telegraphed and have distinct audio cue.
Vergil 2 is pretty good to practice RG timings on, his Beowulf attacks are easy to react to imo, in DT I just fuck off and time jumps with RG.

Dmc 1 is a fantastic game and i wish kamiya made a direct follow up to that game, however the gameplay from 3 is unmatched, the game gives you plenty of unique and viable ground moves irc spaming the same move while jump canceling actually stagnates your style rank encouraging to land and do something different, and you still hit hard in that game, the only game where the infinite single enemy juggling its a full force its on dmc5

Why do you retards insist 3 is super duper technically deep. This is the same game where your weapon only has 3 moves to buy tops, with a secondary weapon with, you guessed it, 3 more moves. Much wow

pretty much every part in the game has some sort of unbeatable cheese tech but one of the cool things about dmc3 is that, especially on harder difficulties, Vergil is actually the hardest part if you "play normal," at least for me and I've beaten DMD. agni and rudra are also hard the first time because you have no upgrades but they're total bitches if you have every weapon and lvl 3 RG

DMC is shitty autism bait with punching bag enemies in which you just stand in one spot cycling moves while occasionally jumping or dodging, and throwing in a taunt for good measure. It just favors autistic recital of weak combos to fill an arbitrary style meter when that's not the fastest or most efficient way to take out enemies

Both movement and attacks themselves (for you and enemies) are slow and clunky. The movement is awkward and not fluid and miles below the movement of NG or even MGRR. The jump is pisspoor and because there's almost zero lateral movement it's just used for iframe spam.

The game also lacks depth (and no having an arbitrary style meter doesn't change the core mechanics); maybe if every style could be equipped simultaneously it would begin to have some depth, but having to choose between dodge, block/counter, or having more than one attack button? What a fucking joke.

Only having two weapons at once combined with shallow movesets cripples the combat and ruins variety. There are so few moves for each, nothing on the level of NG2's 15+ base attacks (counter, strong, weak, strong/weak hold, strong/weak pause, strong/weak forward, 360 attacks, OT, UT, bow, shruiken, air combos) for each weapon + dodge/block, and this is without even going into the 50+ combos for each weapon. Not to mention NG2's more fluid movement, more strict timing, more smart and adaptive enemy AI (especially bosses), and weight given to moves by not being able to simply hop right out of them into a full i-frame to apex jump whenever you see an enemy do one of their predictable tells for an attack.

This is all without even going into the utterly braindead drivel of constantly running through bland environments and collecting random garbage to open doors, or the horrendous fixed camera angles with jarring camera switches, or the infuriating character relative stick inputs necessary to do moves which are especially bad in conjunction with the shit camera.

Among most of the moves that deal high damage you can dt explosion to erase whats in front of you and if you struggle to dispatch enemies fast in dmc1 then you need to get better sadly
The rest is a very pathetic attempt to compare 3 different games with different gameplay, i love dmc 3 and i also like mgr and ng 1 and 2, crazy i know, all i can say is that you have a long way to go before becoming a true ninja

why do people say this, I played both and enemies were giga punching bags in dmc1 (hard jobbed to shotgun and grenade launcher too), dmc3 had better, tougher, and trickier enemies.
Bosses were super whatever too in dmc1, Nelo Angelo aside, especially during the final stretch where it's a shit boss after a shit boss.

For me it was Vergil 3. I was cruising through the game on very hard leveling RG (I suck at parrying), barely any deaths, no items, some S ranks but i'm slow and I have a hard time being stylish so mostly A ranks. Then I got to Vergil 3 and it had been a while since I encountered such a roadblock. The guy shredded me fast, I could barely do any damage, and any damage I did he healed in DT. I had to switch to trickster which i was trying to stop using and it took me like an hour to master the fight (I kept resetting everytime I almost beat him to do it better and no items). In the end I got an SS rank which surprised me because it wasn't no damage but I guess they expect you to use like 3 yellow orbs on that fight.
I tried a few levels of dmd. Cerberus was definitely harder than usual but I'm too burned out on this game to beat it again.

anything you can say to refute the above can also be used to defend DMC, ESPECIALLY "git gud" and double especially "muh master ninja," don't be one of those Adderall NG fags, both games are excellent. of the two I prefer DMC because I have access to virtually my entire moveset at any time rather than it being locked behind long attack strings, all of the weapons and characters feel actually different from each other, and there's also more enemy variety and I prefer DMC bosses in general. this pushes DMC ahead for me in spite of the things I also like about NG such as parrying and the more reactive enemies.

3 had a bunch of gimmick enemies where it just felt a bit more tedious fighting them like the Dullahans, Soul Eaters, Fallens. Fallen exemplifies a big issue that 3 had IMO where too many enemies had regenerating shields and went off screen. Too many of the bosses do this too. And Arkham is probably one of the worst fights.

3 might've had more variety for basic mook enemies but I'm not sure if it topped the puppets in 1. They're not always super difficult unless you're not careful and yeah you can abuse the grenade launcher rolling to take down everything easily, but I think it just feels satisfying to fight most things in 1 especially once you start figuring out how to do the critical hits. I don't think anything after 1 did critical hits? That was a really good way to add a sense of style and skill to the game outside of comboing.

Hard to say what they were thinking when they designed them, but they're one of the main reason I got burned out. The idea of having to fight chess pieces or fallen with inflated hp and dt on dmd is something I don't feel like dealing with.
