It was better than most people made it out to be, still its not very good and painfully flawed in some spots and has several inherent issues out the gate, I think most people just wanted another social media punching bag similar to how Fallout 76 was treated with its entire humiliation ritual debacle on that game's release. I'm glad the Oblivion remake at least wasn't given the same treatment out of personal spite for Todd & his gay ass horse armor or whatever.

fully expecting a resurgence of interest and endless retrospectives revealing that it was a hidden gem and a blast to play when it launches on PS5 and Switch 2 in the next few months, critically maligned purely because it was an Xbox console exclusive, still the greatest singleplayer romp since Skyrim, time will be kind to this one

I'm betting a lot of people are just holding off playing it because they are expecting/hoping big reworks come this year. That is what I'm doing anyway. I think its a fun game to relax with but I'd rather wait for the reworks and start a new game.

I know its a meme at this point but yes, alot of its issues are tied to its engine, the way that engine loads areas by loading in THEN streaming in separate cells as the player moves rather than one entire continuous map simulation really hurts the idea that game is trying to get across, they did the best they could I'm sure with that ancient ass engine, it would've needed a retooling from the ground up or using something entirely different. I'm not a gamedev though so idk I just know that its a bit rotten to the core and any fixes modders would come up with would be band-aid fixes at best.

I enjoyed my time with it. One day I'll play it again with a big wabba list or nexus collection. Just like skyrim.

The lunar rover thing is fun.

The worst part about it is how close it was to being good.
Like I can understand proc gen even if I don't like it, but at least make all the artifacts have their own unique dungeon.

They did, but Starfield deserves a lot of hate. Just maybe not the amount it gets

76 deserves ALL the hate it got and more. The only people who like it at all are consolefags who can't just mod all of its content into Fo4 for free. Its incredible there are even apologists for 76 and its ridiculous addon economy.

Yeah, it’s wild how fast they dropped it. All that marketing, all that Todd-speak, and now it’s just another abandoned planet in the Xbox graveyard. Mods might keep the corpse twitching, but even modders seem like they’re on life support. Classic Bethesda cycle, except this time even they don’t seem interested in pretending anymore.
