The way, I see it, Rikiya is more tragic because he's the first "innocent" guy to get dragged into Kiryu's bullshit and die because of it. Yumi had been involved in the 10 billion conspiracy while Kazama was already a patriarch, there was already inherent risk involved there. But Rikiya was "innocent" since he was only looking out for his hometown before meeting Kiryu. Kiryu himself probably felt guilty in the moment since if he had never met Rikiya, he would still be alive.
