Because I actually watch HDR content on my display instead of staring at black screens all day.
It's amazing how much better games look when they're not artificially constrained to a pitifully dull brightness. Every time you see a bright light "roll off" to white, it's color that's deliberately being washed out because your display is too dull to render it in it's true beauty, because you're satisfied with Microsoft Word Document white as your maximum brightness.
And as it turns out, most games and movies are brighter than they are darker, so higher nit performance makes more sense in a display.

Playing Thief on an IPS is pain, but I'm as broke as Garret a week before the rent is due so I have to make do.

I have two IPS 1440p monitors, I find the matte finish comfy and having no glare is good and they're good on the eyes for general use shit, I game on an OLED though. Mainly IPS were really useful for editing videos since the ones I had reproduced color well

There is already a chink 27" with something like 5088 zones (Redmagic GM001S)
AOC has a 32" 4K FastVA with 2304 zones (U32G4ZMN their bullshit marketing sometimes says 4608, it's not)
Acer has a 32" 4K IPS with 1152 zones, it's fine. (X32Q FS)

Also you don't want IPS Black - it's slow AF. We're talking going back to early 00's panel latency, grey to grey is around 20ms...
