I think journos are being ignored by more and more people. Their reviews follow trends more than they did before, they tend to avoid giving low scores to games people like or are excited for. Video game journalists are becoming irrelevant now that everyone has direct access to clips uploaded by devs, their favorite streamers with advance copies, Brazilian leakers, etc. tons of ways to see what a game is actually like rather than reading one guy's review.

The funny thing is that tendies secretly agree the game is bad. For months they said that we will be able to disable the garbage transition roads because obviously that's what you would think because they are this shit. Now turns out you can't. You have to be lucky to not get them online. Tendies also said every costume getting a character slot is just for the demo because obviously it's fucking retarded. Turns out it wasn't.

This guy has some good points. Make Mario Kart like Forza Horizon but don't include anything that makes the open world or online worthwhile. No radio control was funny. Mario Kart radio stations would go so hard. Also the clips he showed are so empty and devoid of players. Not even a full lobby. When I watched streamers play this like a week ago it was filled to the brim with players.

Game is average, and I mean that in a genuine way. Tech is amazing, the techniques are inuitive and time trial is genuinely skill intensive and fun. Grand prix is ruined, I gave 24 players a chance but you spend half the race getting hit by items. Sure Mario kart was always chaotic and volatile, but it was managable most of the time. I literally watch people go in reverse to get a lower place so they can get a gold shroom, it's so fucking dull. Intermission tracks are universally hated, most people at higher points like 8000 just pick random.

I bet a lot of the post-launch content will be the smaller tracks from the older games, there's no way they make another open world. Everyone is going to be saying that this is the greatest Mario Kart ever made in a couple of years.

I haven't played Mario Kart in ages. What's the point of the grind rails? You just hold A and they take you through that section of the course? As if most of these tracks don't look like straight lines enough already.

there literally isn't a single well designed track in this game. all boring giant lines with space for 200 players which lead you to a single giant curve which leads to another 20 seconds of a straight line.

You can't say Nintendo doesn't know how to do circular shapes and than have clear rounded elements inside the same image. Looks at the sign on the bottom, yo ucan tell what is and isn't an artstyle choice. Heck even for the grass parts, I've seen gamplay footage of perfectly rounded turns on other tracks like Rainbow Road.

I think time trials is okay but the rest need help. I'd imagine this game will get updated over the next few years so I hope they modify the current maps to add a little more variety and emphasis on utilizing the wall, rails and other tricks to give players more advantage.

Also, I hope they adjust some of the the items that make front leading pointless despite riding the front of the pack on one of those straight lines for 2 minutes. Sure, comebacks are good for casual games but maybe reducing stun duration would be good since players can lose like 10-15 positions easily, especially with stacked items (particularly in knock out mode)

I don't disagree with the complaints over the 3 laps thing but it's dumb how so many people keep mentioning the "competitive" scene with fucking Mario Kart. I don't think I could ever see Mario Kart as truly competitive but even ignoring that these people are aware Nintendo has made the games less "competitive" for years now like when snaking was removed after post-DS.
