I hate the new material that the switch 2 and it's acessories are made of, a light breeze can scratch it.
>>712682543 (OP)digital triggers and dpad are major disappointments (though not dealbreakers unless you play fighting games), but the gyro, smooth sticks and buttons, and feeling in the hand are top notch. i really like it, but I can't justify getting one myself when my old pro controllers still work just fine.

I really prefer the standard controller by a longshot lol. It just feels stronger.
I do miss the satellite dish d pad on the elite but the Series controller is pretty similar anyway. As for the back buttons, I really struggled to find a use for those besides jump + dash in Doom Eternal.

Just buy the $60 chink pad, mogs all first party $90 controllers
>>712684362>consider getting a dongleI've tried to download software to fix it, but even then it's just a hassle.
That's why I'm asking if the Switch 2 controller fixed the issue so I know if I have to do that or not

>>712682543 (OP)>digital triggersLiterally my favorite feature of Nintendo controllers starting with the Wii U. For years, I always had to buy cheap third party Xbox controllers with digital triggers. Those controllers never held up well and had to be replaced every year or so. Then the Wii U Pro comes around and FINALLY there's a first party console controller with digital triggers. Once Mayflash adapters came around I got myself a Wii U Pro controller that I've been using for all my PC games since then. More recently, I had to get a Switch Pro because I wanted to use gyro once Steam started supporting that, and I was very happy to see that Nintendo stuck with digital triggers. I really hope Nintendo never listens to retards like you, having a quality controller with digital triggers on the market reliably is something I never want to lose.
>>712690640Iโm American. Blame Appleโฆ
>>712682543 (OP)>digital triggersimmediate dumpster trash. why not just remove the second analog stick because nobody plays fps games on a controller lol, remove rumble too. Lets just keep regressing and pretending like Nintendo is innovating.
>>712690891I fucking hate tendies so much. literal cock sucking cancer goblins.
>>712691905The only use for analog triggers is racing sims, and for that you should just get a steering wheel with analog pedals anyway, why would you play a racing sim on a controller? 99% of all games use analog triggers as digital triggers, where 1 degree of actuation is no different from 90 degrees of actuation. The only thing analog triggers do in those games is cause inconsistency in button activation and de-activation because of varying travel distances.
>>712692237yeah, using a vehicle in literally any game ever is now suddenly a sim, cant play GTA guys its so simmy for this tendie, cant play ace combat what is that an autistic sim for astronauts? buy a flight stick, Backwards compatibility with any game on the gamecube? nah dont need that, compatibility with any game outside the tendie bubble? nah dont need that, we like gimped retarded controllers in this play pen. New starfox with complex vehicle controls? nah we only play mario kart in this house.
It would be so simple to just have a mechanical switch to swap between digital vs analog trigger for hyper luddite autists like you, Nintendo's retardation is holding back entire genres from existing on the most popular console ecosystem and cock sucking tendies cant help themselves but fight for it because they dont play fucking anything besides bing bing.
>>712692640>everything that isn't a racing game just uses 2-stage button presses and does nothing with the analogEven here, the analog function gets in the way by forcing a long travel distance for no reason, the controls would be improved by having minimum travel distance for a light press or just splitting the trigger into two separate buttons. Hell, the Switch port of Mario Sunshine just turned the L button into a modifier for hard spray and it works perfectly fine. To me, this is just an argument for 6 face buttons in addition to the standard 4 shoulder buttons (triggers + bumpers), or for 6 shoulder buttons (triggers + 2 sets of bumpers).
>>712682543 (OP)im not buying official controllers anymore, its all overpriced chinkshit. My last pro controller started drifting and the RB button doesnt work properly anymore, i barely used the thing,

>cant play GTA guys its so simmy for this tendieI play it on PC where digital buttons on my keyboard control gas and brake, zero problems ever. If you're not playing an actual racing sim, you can get 100% of the control you need just from periodically releasing the gas or tapping the brake, half and quarter presses are simply not necessary.
>>712693518>cries about people playing games other than bing bing wahooyou are literal cancer, at least with sony its the company that is fucking up the industry but with tendies its a co-op effort with the cock goblins.

>It would be so simple to just have a mechanical switch to swap between digital vs analog trigger for hyper luddite autists like youI've tried controllers like that, they suck ass. Pressing a face button in tandem with an analog trigger is obnoxious, even if there's a stopper to shorten the pull distance. Digital triggers are far more responsive and consistent.
>>712683010Isn't it made with the same shitty sticks the switch one had? The ones that grind on the guards creating a shit ton of dust?
The ones that will drift 2 years in?
Decade my ass.
I'm so glad I was able to sneak in on that target preorder bug and got this bitch for $25% off.
>>712693317>>everything that isn't a racing game just uses 2-stage button presses and does nothing with the analogMost of these are normal games with racing on the side, you're not gonna use a racing wheel for any of these.
>Even here, the analog function gets in the way by forcing a long travel distance for no reason, the controls would be improved by having minimum travel distance for a light press or just splitting the trigger into two separate buttons. You already have bumpers if you want an instant press. Blame devs for forgetting how to use them because Nintendo refuses to put them on the Switch 1&2 joycons.
>Hell, the Switch port of Mario Sunshine just turned the L button into a modifier for hard spray and it works perfectly fine. When running, you can hold down the trigger lightly to spray water and then click it down when you want to stand in place. That's gone in the port because there's no analog triggers.
>>712682663It means he doesn't actually have the controller and has to lie out of his ass about what it's like. It actually has a matte finish with a fine texture, but it doesn't feel slippery at all. Joy Con 2s also use the same thing. Feels different from the current Xbox and Playstation controllers, which went for the coarse grit on their handles for extra grip and breathability, but it does serve the same purpose.
>>712694071>When running, you can hold down the trigger lightly to spray water and then click it down when you want to stand in place. In the port, holding ZR lets you spray water lightly when running, additionally pressing L makes you stand in place for a hard spray. The functionality is still entirely there, you just press L as a modifier to create the hard spray.
For people that have the pro controller 2. Does it work on PC/Steam already? I might not buy a switch 2 right now but the controller first.
>Why would you do that?!

>>712694308There's no way you're trying to convince me that's a better way to play the game.
>>712694267So how is it anon? I have a little bit of a sticky A button on my Pro 1 controller. Is it worth the upgrade?
>>712693938I used my switch almost constantly, and it took over 5 years for my launch joycons to drift. My friend's dualsense drifted in like 4 months and he mainly uses the ps5 for netflix.
>>712682892>EIGHTY FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS?!??!?!?!?!You know how Trump added tariffs to Vietnam like an hour after the Switch 2 Direct announced the prices? >>712694909>It's a completely equivalent way to play the gameNo it isn't
>there's no functional differenceYou still can't control the exact amount of water to expell from FLUDD because of digital triggers. And this is just one game. What about controlling the vaccuum suction power in Luigi's Mansion?
It's not just about patching a quick fix, it's about how your game feels when playing. It's more fun to control precisely rather than just "pressed? go. not pressed? don't go."
>>712695528>You still can't control the exact amount of water to expell from FLUDD because of digital triggers. You can't control that in the Gamecube version, either, it's a 2-stage system with no in-between. It's not actually analog, it's just the difference between clicking it all the way down or not, there's no in between.
>What about controlling the vaccuum suction power in Luigi's Mansion?Same thing, there's only "light" and "hard." It's 2-stage, not true analog.
The controller itself supports analog control on the triggers, but all the games people point to as "using analog triggers" like Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion really just use the 2-stage function and nothing more.
>>712695919I don't feel like sitting through 8 mins of unskippable cutscenes in Sunshine, so I'll choose to believe you for the sake of the argument.
Games meant for pressure sensitive triggers feel better using pressure sensitive triggers. It's not equivalent.
>>712694612I bought mine at Costco so I didn't pay -as- much, but if you aren't concerned with the price then by all means make the upgrade. You might not use any of the new features on the Pro 2 but you'll definitely appreciate what's been improved over the original. Don't know how long it'll actually last since I've only had the Switch 2 for few days, but since Nintendo makes all their shit to be tard-proof it should hopefully last long enough to give you your money's worth.
I've also used the 8btido Ultimate for a good while. It's a decent controller, but I made the poor decision of getting one of the special anniversary editions which has one of those shitty, cheap ass faceplates that's akin to a Gamestop-brand 360 controller. Feels like I'm holding a bottle of Simply Orange when I use it, I hate it and I stopped using it entirely some time ago.

My friend's offering to sell me his (unpatched) Switch 1 with a pro controller. What's the connectivity like on it? Can I use it on PC, Android, and Switch 2? I had been considering getting a Vader 4 but that idea might go out the window
Does it have a function where you can set the gyro to activate only when your thumb is resting on the stick? It's extremely useful but i never saw it being used outside of the steam deck which is a damn shame.
>>712713387>What's the connectivity like on it?bluetooth and complete ass, it actually has more input lag when wired than wireless and we are already talking about values of 90-100ms JUST for the controller.
>>712697380>The d-pad looks as shitty as ever, too.Not him. But the d-pad is a lot better. A lot.
That said. If you look closely you can see that the face buttons are ever so slightly larger on the new controller. I wouldn't say that really matters but it's a difference. What does matter however is that the buttons are more springy and more clicky and that's kind of nice. But aside from the d-pad now being good, the sticks being as smooth as they are is the big improvement.

>>712682543 (OP)The Switch Pro controller is total garbage and I doubt that the Switch 2 Pro controller is any better. The difference in build quality to a Playstation or Xbox controller is huge.
>>712716401>The difference in build quality to a Playstation or Xbox controller is huge.I mean, yeah, the dualsense does feel like cheap plastic crap.
>>712716401There is 0 difference. All first-party controllers use the cheapest sticks available.
>>712699850These disgusting nu tendies will take literally anything Nintendo fucks up and justify it as a genius improvement.
>>712716401You can use your PS5 controller with the Switch 2 if you buy the 8bitdo dongle. It only costs 15 bucks.
>>712708465I have owned 2 wired 360 pads

>Stick drift and fucked up lb buttonJoycons
>Both developed stick driftEven my 3ds nub is fucked up and doesn't function properly, after I already sent it back to Nintendo to fix.
Official controller hardware is all complete dog shit and this only started happening in recent years, my original Gamecube pads are still fine, my PS3 pad is fine, my early 360 wireless pads were fine till I sold them stupidly thinking I could replace them with my modern wired ones. The only controllers that haven't yet fucked themselves are the 8bitdo chinkshit that I expected to start drifting immediately because it was the cheapest.
>>712682543 (OP)>everyone is raving about the switch 2 game prices>buy everything those scammers throw at themWhy lie? Hell that shit is even more expensive in Europe. I get a Gamecube graphics Mario Kart with broken ass mechanics for the price of like... two fucking Astro Bots.
>>712683010>or an $80 that will last you the next decade+Then why are tendies buying this shit when the switch 1 pro controller barely lasted them 7 years?
>>712715631Their controllers always beat Xbox and Playstation controllers. The only bad ones really were the original wii.
712717657
At this point, I should've realized that you were baiting.
>>712711720>The build quality of the controller is also liquid ass.The DualSense is the most overrated piece of California Apple bullshit Sony has ever produced and they have raised the price on it at least once, AND they released a $200 DualSense Edge so anyone complaining about the rising price of controllers needs to look at them and demand to know what the value really is. Maybe Sony needs to remember what a controller's true purpose is, which is to play games, not to be a fancy looking spaceship. Snoys claim to hate "bing bing wahoo" but that's literally what the fucking DualSense is as a controller, just a bunch of fancy but useless "features" like a built-in speaker because who doesn't like their game TALKING to them, and haptic feedback so you can feel like your fingers really rock climbing when you press the triggers to climb like who gives a fucking shit.
How many games made these days even make meaningful use of analog triggers?
My Switch 1 pro controller works just fine
>>712717921How many games these days make meaningful use of rumble? How many games make meaningful use of R3,L3? How many games make meaningful use of the awkward dpad? Just remove them all, the only games that should exist are 3d mario and zelda. We need a bing bing controller with 1 analog stick, big baby buttons and a dildo attached.
>>712718768The different is that game feel better with digital triggers. You give up something that is used in almost no games and gain something that is used in almost every game. I actually would do the same with R3L3 since they also feel bad to use and I rebind them immediately on PC. Just removing the option would make things easier by taking them away as an option for developers.
>>712717921Just about none. They were always just a detriment due to travel too and pretty much only used in racers which not only didn't need them but are also dead now.
Why did they make the left stick longer than the right stick? It's retarded, it should be the opposite.
>>712719243I don't agree that digital triggers feel better, it's just a button which is already served by RB and LB. The pull of a full trigger is a more interesting action that closely resembles common videogame actions like a gun trigger or gas pedal/throttle, what the ps5 pad was pushing for with feedback on the trigger is the way forward but because they are the only ones pushing it they can't be adopted as an industry standard. Digital triggers do make sense for children's games so I guess if that is all you play simplification becomes the holy grail, the wiimote is the ideal tendie controller, they can even stick it up their ass without modifying it.
>>712693938Sticks are different, for one they're thinner than the pro 1's sticks and second they're of different lengths, left stick is longer than right stick. It's retarded.
>>712694071>That's gone in the port because there's no analog triggers.Doesn't it come back if you use the dedicated GCN controller now? I remember hearing that it actually works with the Switch Sunshine port to restore those features.
>>712697380Face buttons are definitely bigger just from the image.
>>712719285>Racers are dead>the only 2 exclusives on the system right now are racing games, one of which is the best selling Nintendo ip>Sakurai's next game is a racing game>Their Gamecube service is headlined by a racing gameI've never seen a console as racing game focused as the switch 2 is right now. The difference is it's all baby racing games for retards
>>712720051>Digital triggers do make sense for children's gamesIf you are going to make it clear you have no intention of having a real discussion, you shouldn't waste you time typing up a full paragraph.
>>712682543 (OP)This is literally the pattern every single time a new controller gets shilled here. It's just extra embarrassing here because no one can get fooled that Nintendo can make a controller that is not crap.
>>712720406I'm engaging with you on your level which is
>I don't play anything besides Nintendo games therefore this feature is not necessaryThere is no real discussion with tendies because their entire argument is about ignorance and myopia and it always is.
>>712720543You are trying way too hard to get a reaction. People on /v/ are smarter than average, so it is obvious you are only pretending to be retarded.
>>712682543 (OP)>why lie?Why not?
>>712720706Do you really believe that I'm being ironic or just baiting when I say Nintendo games are for children or that tendies don't leave their walled garden? These are objectively true and any argument we have on this topic will boil down to me explaining experiences to you that you haven't had and don't want to engage with because it's too far outside your comfort zone. I'd rather the skip to the point where I shit on that behaviour.
I am pissed at tendies because they not only enable regression in the industry, they encourage it. Take genki for example, a Japanese racing game developer with a primarily domestic market, they can no longer make complex games for the most important console in their own country because tendies don't want to engage with the racing game genre outside mario kart.
>>712720051>The pull of a full trigger is a more interesting action that closely resembles common videogame actions like a gun trigger or gas pedal/throttleAh, yes, that PS5 """immersive""" gameplay experience so you can really feel like Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn when you pull her bow all the way back, that niche feature really defines games and makes Horizon Zero Dawn GOTY material
>>712721169I mentioned rebinding buttons on PC and you claimed that I must only play Nintendo games. Yes, I believe you are being ironic to get a reaction and and your reading comprehension is not actually that bad.
>>712721446I'm not interested in your delusional console war bullshit. Sony games are shit, advanced trigger technology is nice.
>>712721478Tendies own other systems but they are still tendies because they don't change with anything that isn't directly analogous to their core tendie interests. It goes without saying that you don't play racing games, you don't play shit like ace combat, you don't play FPS or third person action games with vehicles in them or you wouldn't be in this thread defending a chinkshit Nintendo controller on the grounds that you don't care about games outside your limited gaming palette.
>>712722121>Tendies own other systemsI doubt that. Idorts don't boycott / shitpost a multiplat just because it's not available on Switch, they'll simply get the game on PC or PS/Xbox.
>>712682543 (OP)>better than the Xbox elite
>>712682543 (OP)not buying a switch 2 it's a rip off
>>712722121>your delusional console war bullshitIt's really yours since you're the one accusing others of being "tendies" and "toddlers" and assuming you know what people play and are defending Sony like they're innovators that know "the way forward". If you're as eclectic as you claim to be then you know gaming isn't one-size-fits-all and most gamers/games have no practical need or use for crap like haptic feedback triggers and thus they get ignored and nobody is compelled to copy them, because these features are all just memes and buzzwords you bought into for "immersion".
>>712722494They are literal children, you don't become a real tendie till you become a Nintendo adult. Guys in their 30s with jobs don't beg for ports, they just buy the game and system they want, the issue is they don't want anything that doesn't relate in some way to a Nintendo console or the genre interests that developed when they were 10 and playing nintendo.
>>712722828"Tendie" isn't about arguing over plastic boxes and sucking corporate cock like you do, it's a criticism of the psychology of a Nintendo adult. Nintendo games are inarguably for children, your only defence would be yes they are for kids but they can also be for adults to which I would say yes for Zelda and 3d mario and no for 90% of their output.
You are a console war retard because you took a single piece of praise for a novel piece of technology as a sign that I give a shit about Sony or playstation.
>If you're as eclectic as you claim to be then you know gaming isn't one-size-fits-allYeah, which is why I'm arguing for controllers with a wider array of control possibilities while you argue for more limited control arrangements that only suit smaller, more specific use cases.
>>712722121Please keep typing out more paragraph of ironic fluff. Just a little more and maybe I'll be upset. It actually does upset me that the quality of /v/ is this low. Your trolling is way too obvious and pointless. This board keeps getting worse because people think they need to have some exaggerated negative opinion and pretending they are retarded because they think it is better to make people angry rather than actually make a point.
>>712690568You see when I read posts like this, or the ones saying the Dualsense is good, I just doubt about all your opinions, the Switch pro controller is fantastic except for the d-pad, the dual sense is a piece of shit with a super uncomfortable grip, almost as bad as the Xbox og duke. I know this thing is a bit subjective but I canโt help but wonder if you people are just retarded or something (probably just fanboys though). The Xbox Series controller is also great, only downside is being too clicky, and they all drift (but it has never happened to me).
>>712690891Analog triggers are good for racing games and terrible for everything else, I donโt know why people want them so much when 99% of games use them as a button, making it way worse than digital triggers, doing heavy attacks with a trigger or just a regular attack in Skyrim has always been shit. Shooting also sucks after the novelty of the 7th gen (omg itโs like iโm firing a real guuuun) wears off.
>>712682543 (OP)https://youtu.be/f8uphedB1VY?t=440
It has a garbage dpad
>>712723401Whining about fluff posts while posting about how you dislike pointless posts is gay and hypocritical. If you have nothing to say on the topic you don't have to drag this out, I have enough retarded tendies to deal with without you pretending like you're above it all.
>>712683010>Spreading lies on the internet
>>712693039Okay? Maybe GTA? What about all the other games that makes it control worse? GTA is not even on Nintendo. How do you defend attacking in Dark Souls with a trigger?
>>712723672Next to a gun, operating a vehicle is the most common piece of equipment you use in videogames, you can say you don't like guns or shooting but that doesn't stop you from being retarded by then saying you don't want controllers to cater to this pretty large usecase
>>712723672The gamecube has the perfect triggers and no one else uses them
>>712723728It is important to make the point that everyone is above it all when you make it obvious you are not genuine. If you want to deal with tendies, you will actually need to make real arguments rather than ranting about some imaginary tendie you've made up in your head.
>>712724097Gamecubes mushy triggers are the absolute worst, they might be the only case where I'd prefer digital triggers.
>>712719285There were a few games that had some cute uses of even the analog PS2 buttons, but they're few and far between everyone else who just treated them as regular buttons anyway.
>>712682543 (OP)There's no reason to get this drifting garbage, there's a billion third party controllers which work better.
>>712724176I have stereotypical tendies flocking to my post like flies on shit while you pretend they are too smart to fall for it. This entire board is like 50% baiting or bullying autistic tendies. My criticisms and hatred of Nintendo and tendies aren't fake, only my phrasing to active them.
>>712723985>Next to a gun, operating a vehicle is the most common piece of equipment you use in videogamesThis is retardedly wrong to begin with, and ignores the fact that analog acceleration in almost all games with a vehicle is completely pointless.
>>712723401Isn't it about time you pull out your Eric card, Tendie?
>>712725852Are you trying to say he is Eric?
>>712725552I know you're a tendie but generes like space sim, flight combat, racing exist. cars, planes, mechs in FPS and third person action games also exist.
Notice how the only argument now is to just scream "tendie".
Notice how the only argument now is to just scream "eric".
>>712726465It's synonymous with shit eater, ignorant, myopic, or corporate cocksucker, all are very relevant when discussing people who would rather downgrade thier controllers to only play Nintendo games than deal with 2mm of trigger pull.
>>712690568I half-disagree, it IS a piece of shit, but the Joy-Cons were even bigger ones and take the "biggest" position in my opinion.
>>712699850>keeps just pressing the button repeatedly>holds it down longer and it sprays moreLets see it go from that trickle to a full stream and then slowly back again WITHOUT you letting the button go.

>>712726691Damn right, anyone who uses the word is certainly a shit eater, ignorant, myopic, and a corporate cock sucker.
>>712727320I always hated the gyro because of how inaccurate it was compared to the Wii Remote pointer, it's nice to hear that it's been upgraded.

>>712729337Well if you want to call yourself one that's on you.
>>712729082I don't give a fuck what you think. Nintendo gave the greenlight for $80 games just like Apple gave the greenlight for removing TRS jacks from smartphones to sell more disposable earbuds. If your development is arrested enough to still enjoy Nintendo games at 30something thats your own problem but they fired the first shot that made the rest of the gaming industry that much worse for everyone.
>>712708465>I ended up selling the Splatoon edition to my clueless nephewFatherless nigger behavior
>>712684590Mine lasted years but started to hit inputs by itself, even when turned off. At first it was just hitting R every so often, by the end it was spamming every single button possible. Got a new one a year or two ago and it's started doing it again.
>>712703507I did that with my first one but it didn't make a difference.
>>712723709>the nice thing is is that I can feel kind of like a resistant click as I'm doing it so it's kind of like a confirmation as I'm moving it left and right. And so it kind of stays in its own lane, in that you know exactly when you don't go straight up and down but to me it's still a little bit too sensitive i would have liked this to beTL;DR You don't actually press diagonals by mistake and you can instantly feel if you're pressing down on the dpad wrong. As your own source said himself "it stays in its own lane", so if you just wish to press down, you'll just press down unless you deliberately aim to push the dpad to its sides.
You just cited a ridiculous nitpick that was immediately followed up by a refutation of said nitpick. And your own link doesn't affirm your claim of the stick being garbage at all.
How pathetic can you be?
>>712716019Cant go watch a video for like a minute.
So are you a nigger or a jeet
