digital triggers and dpad are major disappointments (though not dealbreakers unless you play fighting games), but the gyro, smooth sticks and buttons, and feeling in the hand are top notch. i really like it, but I can't justify getting one myself when my old pro controllers still work just fine.

>Better than the elite
I owned an Elite Series 2 for three years, and now own a standard Xbox Series controller also for three years.

I really prefer the standard controller by a longshot lol. It just feels stronger.

I do miss the satellite dish d pad on the elite but the Series controller is pretty similar anyway. As for the back buttons, I really struggled to find a use for those besides jump + dash in Doom Eternal.

I think it's all about the same. I've never had much issues with my Switch 1 pro on PC personally. It's built into steam, and there's usually some sort of software you can download that will make it compatible with everything else.
You use it plugged into the computer right?

>digital triggers
Literally my favorite feature of Nintendo controllers starting with the Wii U. For years, I always had to buy cheap third party Xbox controllers with digital triggers. Those controllers never held up well and had to be replaced every year or so. Then the Wii U Pro comes around and FINALLY there's a first party console controller with digital triggers. Once Mayflash adapters came around I got myself a Wii U Pro controller that I've been using for all my PC games since then. More recently, I had to get a Switch Pro because I wanted to use gyro once Steam started supporting that, and I was very happy to see that Nintendo stuck with digital triggers. I really hope Nintendo never listens to retards like you, having a quality controller with digital triggers on the market reliably is something I never want to lose.

The only use for analog triggers is racing sims, and for that you should just get a steering wheel with analog pedals anyway, why would you play a racing sim on a controller? 99% of all games use analog triggers as digital triggers, where 1 degree of actuation is no different from 90 degrees of actuation. The only thing analog triggers do in those games is cause inconsistency in button activation and de-activation because of varying travel distances.

New starfox with complex vehicle controls? nah we only play mario kart in this house.

It would be so simple to just have a mechanical switch to swap between digital vs analog trigger for hyper luddite autists like you, Nintendo's retardation is holding back entire genres from existing on the most popular console ecosystem and cock sucking tendies cant help themselves but fight for it because they dont play fucking anything besides bing bing.

>everything that isn't a racing game just uses 2-stage button presses and does nothing with the analog
Even here, the analog function gets in the way by forcing a long travel distance for no reason, the controls would be improved by having minimum travel distance for a light press or just splitting the trigger into two separate buttons. Hell, the Switch port of Mario Sunshine just turned the L button into a modifier for hard spray and it works perfectly fine. To me, this is just an argument for 6 face buttons in addition to the standard 4 shoulder buttons (triggers + bumpers), or for 6 shoulder buttons (triggers + 2 sets of bumpers).

I play it on PC where digital buttons on my keyboard control gas and brake, zero problems ever. If you're not playing an actual racing sim, you can get 100% of the control you need just from periodically releasing the gas or tapping the brake, half and quarter presses are simply not necessary.

I've tried controllers like that, they suck ass. Pressing a face button in tandem with an analog trigger is obnoxious, even if there's a stopper to shorten the pull distance. Digital triggers are far more responsive and consistent.

Most of these are normal games with racing on the side, you're not gonna use a racing wheel for any of these.
>Even here, the analog function gets in the way by forcing a long travel distance for no reason, the controls would be improved by having minimum travel distance for a light press or just splitting the trigger into two separate buttons.
You already have bumpers if you want an instant press. Blame devs for forgetting how to use them because Nintendo refuses to put them on the Switch 1&2 joycons.
>Hell, the Switch port of Mario Sunshine just turned the L button into a modifier for hard spray and it works perfectly fine.
When running, you can hold down the trigger lightly to spray water and then click it down when you want to stand in place. That's gone in the port because there's no analog triggers.

It means he doesn't actually have the controller and has to lie out of his ass about what it's like. It actually has a matte finish with a fine texture, but it doesn't feel slippery at all. Joy Con 2s also use the same thing. Feels different from the current Xbox and Playstation controllers, which went for the coarse grit on their handles for extra grip and breathability, but it does serve the same purpose.

In the port, holding ZR lets you spray water lightly when running, additionally pressing L makes you stand in place for a hard spray. The functionality is still entirely there, you just press L as a modifier to create the hard spray.

You still can't control the exact amount of water to expell from FLUDD because of digital triggers. And this is just one game. What about controlling the vaccuum suction power in Luigi's Mansion?
It's not just about patching a quick fix, it's about how your game feels when playing. It's more fun to control precisely rather than just "pressed? go. not pressed? don't go."

You can't control that in the Gamecube version, either, it's a 2-stage system with no in-between. It's not actually analog, it's just the difference between clicking it all the way down or not, there's no in between.
>What about controlling the vaccuum suction power in Luigi's Mansion?
Same thing, there's only "light" and "hard." It's 2-stage, not true analog.

The controller itself supports analog control on the triggers, but all the games people point to as "using analog triggers" like Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion really just use the 2-stage function and nothing more.

I bought mine at Costco so I didn't pay -as- much, but if you aren't concerned with the price then by all means make the upgrade. You might not use any of the new features on the Pro 2 but you'll definitely appreciate what's been improved over the original. Don't know how long it'll actually last since I've only had the Switch 2 for few days, but since Nintendo makes all their shit to be tard-proof it should hopefully last long enough to give you your money's worth.
I've also used the 8btido Ultimate for a good while. It's a decent controller, but I made the poor decision of getting one of the special anniversary editions which has one of those shitty, cheap ass faceplates that's akin to a Gamestop-brand 360 controller. Feels like I'm holding a bottle of Simply Orange when I use it, I hate it and I stopped using it entirely some time ago.

That said. If you look closely you can see that the face buttons are ever so slightly larger on the new controller. I wouldn't say that really matters but it's a difference. What does matter however is that the buttons are more springy and more clicky and that's kind of nice. But aside from the d-pad now being good, the sticks being as smooth as they are is the big improvement.

The DualSense is the most overrated piece of California Apple bullshit Sony has ever produced and they have raised the price on it at least once, AND they released a $200 DualSense Edge so anyone complaining about the rising price of controllers needs to look at them and demand to know what the value really is. Maybe Sony needs to remember what a controller's true purpose is, which is to play games, not to be a fancy looking spaceship. Snoys claim to hate "bing bing wahoo" but that's literally what the fucking DualSense is as a controller, just a bunch of fancy but useless "features" like a built-in speaker because who doesn't like their game TALKING to them, and haptic feedback so you can feel like your fingers really rock climbing when you press the triggers to climb like who gives a fucking shit.

The different is that game feel better with digital triggers. You give up something that is used in almost no games and gain something that is used in almost every game. I actually would do the same with R3L3 since they also feel bad to use and I rebind them immediately on PC. Just removing the option would make things easier by taking them away as an option for developers.

I don't agree that digital triggers feel better, it's just a button which is already served by RB and LB. The pull of a full trigger is a more interesting action that closely resembles common videogame actions like a gun trigger or gas pedal/throttle, what the ps5 pad was pushing for with feedback on the trigger is the way forward but because they are the only ones pushing it they can't be adopted as an industry standard. Digital triggers do make sense for children's games so I guess if that is all you play simplification becomes the holy grail, the wiimote is the ideal tendie controller, they can even stick it up their ass without modifying it.

I'd rather the skip to the point where I shit on that behaviour.

I am pissed at tendies because they not only enable regression in the industry, they encourage it. Take genki for example, a Japanese racing game developer with a primarily domestic market, they can no longer make complex games for the most important console in their own country because tendies don't want to engage with the racing game genre outside mario kart.

"Tendie" isn't about arguing over plastic boxes and sucking corporate cock like you do, it's a criticism of the psychology of a Nintendo adult. Nintendo games are inarguably for children, your only defence would be yes they are for kids but they can also be for adults to which I would say yes for Zelda and 3d mario and no for 90% of their output.

You are a console war retard because you took a single piece of praise for a novel piece of technology as a sign that I give a shit about Sony or playstation.
>If you're as eclectic as you claim to be then you know gaming isn't one-size-fits-all
Yeah, which is why I'm arguing for controllers with a wider array of control possibilities while you argue for more limited control arrangements that only suit smaller, more specific use cases.

There's no reason to get this drifting garbage, there's a billion third party controllers which work better.

I have stereotypical tendies flocking to my post like flies on shit while you pretend they are too smart to fall for it. This entire board is like 50% baiting or bullying autistic tendies. My criticisms and hatred of Nintendo and tendies aren't fake, only my phrasing to active them.

>Next to a gun, operating a vehicle is the most common piece of equipment you use in videogames
This is retardedly wrong to begin with, and ignores the fact that analog acceleration in almost all games with a vehicle is completely pointless.

I know you're a tendie but generes like space sim, flight combat, racing exist. cars, planes, mechs in FPS and third person action games also exist.

It's synonymous with shit eater, ignorant, myopic, or corporate cocksucker, all are very relevant when discussing people who would rather downgrade thier controllers to only play Nintendo games than deal with 2mm of trigger pull.

I half-disagree, it IS a piece of shit, but the Joy-Cons were even bigger ones and take the "biggest" position in my opinion.

Lets see it go from that trickle to a full stream and then slowly back again WITHOUT you letting the button go.

It cant connect the pc via bluetooth
The sticks arent hall effects
And the faceplate is held on by glue, so changing it or needing to repair it is going to be a bitch

Nintendo fans have a pseudo religious devotion to the brand. It's their idol so don't listen to them about what they say about any product

I don't give a fuck what you think. Nintendo gave the greenlight for $80 games just like Apple gave the greenlight for removing TRS jacks from smartphones to sell more disposable earbuds. If your development is arrested enough to still enjoy Nintendo games at 30something thats your own problem but they fired the first shot that made the rest of the gaming industry that much worse for everyone.

Mine lasted years but started to hit inputs by itself, even when turned off. At first it was just hitting R every so often, by the end it was spamming every single button possible. Got a new one a year or two ago and it's started doing it again.

I did that with my first one but it didn't make a difference.

>the nice thing is is that I can feel kind of like a resistant click as I'm doing it so it's kind of like a confirmation as I'm moving it left and right. And so it kind of stays in its own lane, in that you know exactly when you don't go straight up and down but to me it's still a little bit too sensitive i would have liked this to be
TL;DR You don't actually press diagonals by mistake and you can instantly feel if you're pressing down on the dpad wrong. As your own source said himself "it stays in its own lane", so if you just wish to press down, you'll just press down unless you deliberately aim to push the dpad to its sides.
You just cited a ridiculous nitpick that was immediately followed up by a refutation of said nitpick. And your own link doesn't affirm your claim of the stick being garbage at all.
How pathetic can you be?
