Even though they get their hands dirty, there's suppose to be some level of honor from the three lieutenants that gain sympathy points. Awano is laid back, but unhinged. He just shoots some random whore he was dancing with. Later he plays the hero saving Majima and sacrificing himself. It's hard for me to feel good about him.
