They both tap into the the same anxiety of everyday things a lot of people feel, but whereas SCP expresses that anxiety through technical writing and an elaborate, highly detailed fictional world and mythos, the backrooms is largely vague and undefined, basically a few compressed png images with no interconnecting matter. Pretty much where SCP was in 2007 or so, but permanently arrested in that state and never evolving. SCP also originated on Internet forums and 4chan whereas backrooms originated on easily consumable social media. Theyโre actually perfect reflections of their respective generations.
