Sometimes that's just what you gotta do to fund your passion. Look at Larian, they made a shit ton off of BG3. Yeah they probably wanted to make another Divinity game, but it would have been half assed. Now their next game is gonna be 100% their own vision

That's literally their business model. Release original ip that has new ideas like GG's graphics, then get the attention of bigger companies so that they hire you to do similar stuff.
