The music changing dynamically as you nail and fuck up notes activates every fiber of my brain, but the weapon micromanaging autism is a turn off, I hope the rest of the game can grow and become fun enough to compensate

Pressing D-pad down on the main hub brings up a menu where you can set each little shit's weapon type (that is compatible with your hero) and specific weapon from your stockpile, you basically just slap the rarest and highest level one you have on each and call it a day, you can have all archers or all soldiers if you want etc

Weapon micromanagement isn't that big of a deal compared to Patapon 1 and 2. You just slap on the biggest and baddest color equipment you have because shit is randomized so you don't need to equip specific shit like "weapon that reduces burn/shock/freeze/poison" because it's roguelike. Which sucks, but I can cope with it.

I played Patapon 1 and had fun.
I heard 2 is 1 but bigger while 3 is trying to be rhythm MonHun. Is that true? I wouldn't be surprised given how big a deal Portable 1-3 were.

I'm having a hard time with with one. The camera's too far away for me to focus on one thing and I'm left either focusing on my guy or the tempo meter, leaving me open to attacks. The enemies are super easy, but the bosses are a grind.

2 is peak patapon and is the best one.
Thats a strange analogue calling 3 monhun, but i suppose it can work. 3's problem was that it expects you to fight rows upon rows of boss enemies while balancing the whole (go back/continue) after every round. It would be more like mon hun if you can manually heal your troops and gave you more movement mechanics, like Ratatan.
If you want to play 3, just slap some cheats to give yourself all the upgrades. The only positive I can spin on 3 is that the upgrade paths are quite interesting.

Not him but my dream Patapon game is 3's Uberhero system expanded with 2's army management but expanded too. Along with the main campaign expanding to a top-down journey to Earthend (or what lies further).

Oh and you dont have to send commands every time. Fever starts to drop only after you miss 2, not one, so you can skip on a command if you need to maneuver yourself out or something.
Also calibrate the latency in the settings

2 has the best army management/compexity, 3 is kind of weird because it feels balanced around multiplayer stuff with uberheroes so playing solo at this point is kind of a slog.

its honestly so relieving to see people actually enjoy the demo when every ratatan thread post kickstarter hype was pretty much filled with massive "Mighty #9" doomposting whenever it was made.
I hope the "skill issue" bootlickers from the beta get fucked and devs polish it well by release.
