CoP is made up of small mission areas with very little in between. After clearing those areas there's nothing else left to do in the world. In CS I found that NPCs start populating previously visited areas and keep the world alive. CoP's world feels completely dead after you've done all the missions. What's even the reason for making it an open (hub) world at that point?

The story is so linear and there's so little side content, that it's like they tried to make SOC2, except instead of loading screens between the levels, you have 1500 meters of running between objectives.
It's a complete waste of open world. Open world STALKER should have a game structure more similar to Call of Pripyat.

hot take but clear sky is more fun than CoP if you patch it up. yeah CoP's the more fleshed out game but people shit on clear sky too much for no reason. it's actually pretty fun

lot of reason it got hate is cause factions were really hyped up but turned out to be nothing, and then the linear levels at the end of the game. also the grenades. i kinda go used to engaging at long distances and relocating after every shot to avoid them, which in a way was fun, but i dont think they were popular either. I don't think it s a bad game at all

you must be mistaking games, NPCs in CS only go where the faction wars script tells them whereas CoP NPCs just dick around the map at random
SoC>CoP>CS, the other game isn't part of the series since it has no A-Life, judging the base games is also kinda pointless since every one of them has mods that make them a lot better but generally SoC does have the best mods.

And you end up with a map that has different NPC squads patrolling around at random. No identity to any single location whatsoever (except knowing that you once did a mission there)

Such an autistic take on CoP, you are just mad because the game is not a kiddie faction war game that goes on forever on a world with 300 population? lmao.

In a few ways. For some reason /v/ is determined to shit on S2 while completely disregarding any of it's strengths (much like what happened with Dragon's Dogma 2). A few neat things I can think of... >There are multiple minor call backs to previous characters/events that you have to go out of your way to find >The new anomalies/anomalous events are interesting/creative >You can find good hidden gear in places similar to finding the merc suit in SoC's rookie village
