Nintendo emulation has hurt the brand.
Because emulation made playing Nintendo games so convenient and free people dont get an emotional investment in to the brand because they didn't have to spend money on it.
If there was no emulation playing a game like super metroid or Zelda on actual hardware or the SNES mini would have felt like a true achievement and an amazing experience instead it just feels like a less convenient alternative to emulation.
So now people dont reilize how Amazing Nintendo games are because they can just easily access them for free.

I would never give up the freedom of PC and being able to emulate any game, but it's important to put in safeguards so you don't fall victim to choice paralysis. I personally have a separate folder to archive all of my ROMs and then a different "now playing" folder with a much smaller rotation

The first thing you learn when you're a teenager and discover emulators and start exploring console, arcade, and even PC libraries without restrictions is that Nintendo is painfully corporate in its approach to games.
Emulators are frowned upon by Nintendo fanboys not only because Nintendo has domesticated them to reject it, but also because when you put Nintendo games on the same level as others, they start to fade away.
The guy who, after having unlimited access to video games, is still in his "Nintendo" phase, is the same guy who, after watching movies from all over the world, still thinks Jurassic Park or Back to the Future are the best movies ever made.

I enjoy Nintendo games but i never put them on a pedestal and treated them like a holy grail.
I like Zelda but i have played several Action Adventures i enjoyed more.
I like Metroid but many Metroidvenias just did it better,

The only genre that Nintendo truly excels at are seamy open ended 3d Platformers.
Basically any 3d Mario game. Ironically i enjoyed many 2d platformers more than 2d Mario games but i still think 3d Mario games are best 3d platformers.

I will gladly purchase a game if its from a developer I like and trust, so long as it isn't on a Nintendo console. My Steam library keeps growing and growing, but Nintendo's not getting a single penny from me anymore. I can easily purchase a Switch 2 if I want to, but with every console or handheld Nintendo has released before it you might as well pirate everything if they make their available past game library to play smaller and smaller while raising their prices.

Because Nintendo games are special and Sega and Sony are not because i grew up on Nintendo games and they teach me i am special and important throughout my childhood in the USA so i have an inflated ego.
