just remember that every weird omission from this game was due to the n64's storage limitations and it would have been better as a disc based game

this is the only game I've ever played where I have to turn the brightness up on my TV. that really pissed me off

I dunno I kinda liked when games made themselves different based on limitations of the hardware.

I kind of like how they solved this issue with the regular shotgun by making it a level-action shotgun.

The later half is good but the game is mostly a 6/10.

Nah. The Techbase levels are definitely the weaker parts of the game but 85% of the game takes place in Hell and those levels are excellent.

Cat and Mouse is a challenge map for fun. It's a cool concept trying to fight a "teleporting" Cyberdemon with little resources.

That's an optional extra level and isn't accessed in a normal playthrough, only by password or the fun options menu.

The number of levels that central structure you circle around get repetitive even if they have their redeeming elements. Progression in Eye of the Storm, Unholy Temple and Altar of Pain blend together. Terror Core isn't particular imaginative and reeks of tech base layout with a hell theme, Dark Citadel is just crap, The Spiral is complete filler padding, hopefully this helped jog your memory. Doom 64 is alright, but mostly a 6/10 with some 8/10 moments sprinkled in here and there in the second half.

from what i understand, execs will shave off months from the time devs need to make a thing
