They've announced a sequel to Endless Legend. How come I never see /v/ discuss this game?

I've played it alone, maybe 4 games to completion? I've only won with Cultists and the fish people. I've failed every attempt with the fire people, but I've heard they're actually so broken the fans made a pvp balance patch.

I guess my main criticism of the game is it has too many win conditions that feel like they exist just for the gimmick.

Like, The dragons are good at diplomacy, the sand jews are good at the economy, but because you gave win conditions to those that just means that's how they win in a boring sense, not in some other way like the sand jews winning at domination given their advantage on the market.

But maybe I just never played it enough to realize the win conditions were flexible and arbitrary. Like you COULD do a science only run and still win against the Mages or other science rush factions.

It would have been much wiser to exile that actual problematic spam that clogs the board, rather than the threads / topics that are actually on-topic.

I just don't care for turn based strategy games, the actual real time combat is fine but I FUCKING LOATHE having to pass turns and wait for the AI to do their shit, or them abusing the turn system so any kind of strategy goes out the window, absolutely retarded

I personally find GS games to be too monotonous and filled with absolutely pointless filler turns.
All the turn based games i like are tactics games on a far smaller scale.

Its the same problem as frostpunk 2 to me, once I lose any sense of attachement to the scenario at play i stop giving a shit and just see the tasks as chores.

This is why I couldn't do Age of Wonders.
The gameplay was fine, being unable to fast forward through the AI's long as fucking turn lengths wasn't.

I don't need to see every animation playout, just let me fast forward through that shit god damn.

Endless Space rapes Endless Legend's existence from the world-building lore perspective.

They're in the same universe and Endless Legend is just one experimental planet in a giant universe. Endless Space canonizes the victor and the rest of the planet's factions are erased.

In other words: Nothing matters and I am unable to care about Endless Legend, sorry.

I just want the music to be as good as the first game and Endless Space 2.
I like the idea of the Endless universe, but I've never actually finished one game of their 4x entries.
I kinda liked Dungeon of the Endless (NOT Endless Dungeon)

I do like how they play on faction tropes without being le heckin subversive.
Like the eldritch being good, but still using terrifying mindhacks and conspiracy actions.
Or the war only locusts self aware of their issues, but not really caring
The horatio are pretty iconic too

The faction writing in general is great and unique but it's just a blunder to trivialize your own setting like they did to Endless Legend. Nobody would want to write their campaign in such a scenario because, in a grand scheme of lore, it's all completely pointless.

I'm in insider beta
One of the still unrevealed factions are native to the planet religious scientists who are worshiping Endless. Actually my favorite faction so far. They showed up in first trailer too. You have to balance two religious factions within your society and can expel schizos so they go to other factions and cause problems for them. You can also build observatories on mountains and your society is centered around big observatory left by the Endless. You can use this Observatory for various abilities which piss off certain factions and generate schizos
Now they added some weird non humanoid even older natives in last update. They liked how planet was a desert shithole and seek to terraform it to older state. They remember where cities were before oceans covered the world so they know locations of still submerged ruins. Haven't tried them yet

I've never played endless space. What you're saying is, is Augira does have a definite winner featured in it and you're dismissive of legend for trying to keep a local setting because of this winner?

Are the playstyles more grounded or are they still doing the aforementioned "This faction is strong at this mechanic, that is also a win condition" thing?

Like I said, I like all the mechanic directions you can go but hate how they end up just being a part of their own score board. That kind of design is why the bat people sucked ass until they introduced the Urkan almost specifically to synergize with their really good early game scouting.

It seems to be exactly this same. Each faction even has a title attached to them in selection screen, indicating which playstyle they are the best at. Those religious natives (Tahuks) have title of "Scientists". Sandshapers have "Expansionists". Lost Lords have "Economic"

kind of lame then. Not the strengths, I just don't think anything except domination, elimination and I guess diplomatic should be win conditions.

Economic and Scientific were always retarded. Science is just maxxing out the best upgrades and the faction who is good at generating it should be pretty dependent on them compared to other factions who can afford to upgrade slower.

Economic should be self evident in how it bolsters your ability to suppress others from the market and gain advantages through buyouts.

Like fuck just handing the sand jews a victory for "making a lot of dust".
