xbox is making like $6bn a year with their back catalogue plus selling a couple million copies of their bigger games here and there. of course nobody cares about the quality and performance of a single game anymore.

A portion of it is the fact that they stopped selling the PlayStation at a loss. Seriously, consoles in general are usually sold at a loss and that was how XBox and Sony sold consoles for years, XBox still does this but the less said about their consoles the better. Sony started selling PS5's at a profit from since it's launch. Another portion of their profits come from their network services and their storefront since they get a cut off of those sales regardless of whether they publish the game if it's sold on the PS5, like Steam.
