Funny I had the opposite reaction. I immediately wanted to jump back in and haul ass back to the final boss to get my revenge. I choked again. Personally I thought it was a clever way of making me want to go back and git gud at the regular levels.

That's a very interesting way to see it, the game is not actually that long anyways so it's probably the devs intent. But like that anon, i just gave up after i lost a few years ago. I actually tried again recently, after the vanilla update, but i stopped because i always fuck up something minor in a stage and refuse to not restart the whole thing like a stubborn mule. Maybe one day.

isn't that kinda already in the game in the normal mode? (the higher your 'skill level' is, the harder the enemies become, getting new patterns and stuff)

The White Vanilla original version makes you shoot the congratulations screen to get to the Ex Stage whereas the post-game version just throws you into it, they might do something similar for Black Onion

They are the only ones to push the envelope of games as an art form

Guys like Kojima and Taro might've tried but have burned out (saying as someone who really likes Death Stranding). they just don't push enough or focus too much on what was (I still have some faith in Taro but not much and he'll probably never do another big game)

All the others were hacks or haven't been active for eons or retired
