We will never capture that innocent whimsy again

no it really is
the movement is so rigid and slow and the level design is very basic
mario 64 absolutely shits on the moment to moment gameplay of b&k
it is very soulful though and i can understand why kids got really into it

You just described Mario 64, except you get kicked out of the level every time the game shits you a new star.

most stars in mario 64 aren't literally sitting out in the open, they're gotten through platforming challenges or distinct tasks that actually ask more of the player than to simply point walk from point a to point b.
in banjo most jiggies are just sitting out in the field like red coins in mario 64, requiring little effort to actually get.
>>712773492
this is every level retard. freezezy peak is halfway through the game and has a jiggy that is literally "turn into walrus banjo and then walk up to the walrus in the level".
>inb4 nooooo that's just one jiggy though
same level has one you get from riding the sled at the top of the snowman...which requires you to simply walk up the snowman's scarf (no platforming, you literally just walk up a slope). and right next to the sled is a jump pad that puts you into the snowman's pipe where another jiggy is sitting.

This game is way too immature. The sound effects are constantly blaring in your face like some sort of Fisher Price toy being slammed around. Parents must have been annoyed as fuck when they gave their kids this game. I don't know how you can justify playing this as an adult.

>Collectathon has a couple of collectibles per level that you can collect via simply collecting them
Not every jiggy needs a four stage sidequest

Correct. It's not a generic platformer with shitass tank controls, like Croc is.

Yeah and thatโ€™s not fun unless youโ€™re a child or mentally retarded. Youโ€™re literally playing what is equivalent to a baby being made to crawl by jiggling a shiny key in front of him.

I think it's fine for what it was, but I find it hard to go back to it when I'm used to platformers at the very least allowing you to grab onto and climb up ledges.

The sound design and creative sense of exploration carries a lot.
