FACT: Only 1 in 10 Sonic fans has played Sonic CD. Of that group, only 1 in 10 has gotten the good ending. In other words, only 1% of the Sonic fanbase is qualified to talk about this game.

There's an actual medroidvania sonic fangame which does what you're complaining about much better. Fast works fine with sprawling world design so long as the game is actually build around it.
If chrono adventure didn't have a 20 minute long bullshit slow segment full of pointless worldbuilding for an ant colony I'd even say it was good.

Most people who really like CD and put it over the genesis trilogy like it because 1). the music, 2). the visuals, 3). it's by far the easiest classic Sonic game, and 4). your average modern gaymer will look up the generator locations for 100% which they can't do for 100%ing the other games. This is why CDfags don't talk about gameplay very much.

Even as a ten year old I thought the game was short. I remember after beating the final stage on my aunts Sega CD, my brother and I were convinced there had to be more we were missing or that we did something wrong (since we got the bad end).
