Games are so expensive now that a year of Gamepass ultimate is the same as buying three full priced games, and since most people here don't even seem to finish the games they "own" (aka paid for the digital license) I'm not sure where the obsession is with having the game forever.

i bought it for my son so he has a steady pace of new games to try out, plus it lets me try out random indie games i would have never tried out otherwise.

Yeah that's crazy man. I'm going to go play some games though, because my access has not been revoked.

>seeing the numbers
Did they lost subscriptions? I read they were sitting at the 30-40 million mark; that's on par with the Xbox Series' numbers. Weird.

Gamepass has all those subscribers because they renamed a year or two ago xbox gold which is just online gaming as gamepass core. Actual gamepass is probably around the 5-10m mark.

On the other hand, if you're using GP you clearly don't care about playing games at real scale and only do it for quick access for those short bursts to scratch the itch.

I recall some time ago being stated above the 100 million mark; that was clearly the trap. But now the number they acknowledged was rather low.

nta but i converted three years of gold i bought on kinguin to gamepass ultimate when the conversion rate was still even and you could upgrade for $1. so i got three years of ultimate for about $141.

100m is their goal by 2030 (?), it will never be reached. I don't think there's 100m people on the planet that play enough games to make use of gamepass. I'm not even confident you could hit that number if you put literally every big game on there.

I've only ever owned a few games for every system I've had except for PC and the original Xbox (I had like 5 games) with gamepass I've already played more games on my Series X since December 2024 than I have in the last 5-8 years combined

This is not the 6th generation, anon; you waste at least one hour by just moving in modern games instead of using it with the meat of gameplay.

Don't delude yourself; arcade type games are a minority of modern gaming.

>Paying a sub to play a 10 yo game that can be bought for dirt cheap
You're being offensively inneficient. Thank god I'm not your boss.

>t. zoomer who never grew up renting games
We used to spend 3-5 dollars to rent a single game for 3 days. That was the 90s.
This is a far superior deal.
