why does it seem like so many modern videogames are dumbing down their graphics?

Takayoshi Sato wasn't involved with SH3, but with SH1 and 2 he was trying to push the boundaries of visual storytelling in games with the 3D model software, character designs and expressions and that creative philosophy shaped the identity of Silent Hill's visuals going forwards.

Most people these days not only use whatever's pre-baked but don't give a fuck on any level outside of what's required to pay the bills, further exacerbated in that most customers don't give a fuck, used to be these leaps in achievement were significant milestones to be recognized if not rewarded in video games. But now?
