No real loss. It's a bad game in a below average series. Only downside is the occasional group of retards that always fellate untranslated games.

Over 90% of old visual novels. You're lucky if you can find a fan translation, but of most of these are gonna be left untouched for the rest of time.

It also usually comes with the full script of the game translated. So yeah, the only thing stopping is if you want to bother reading a second file. If you have a phone or a second monitor, its pretty doable.
Personally, i did play through it to the end. Cool game. The aesthetics are awesome and an improvement over 1. Plots i basically Platabot 2 The Movie in game. Animations are great. And the RPG elements are more complex compared to 1. Only issue is that the game is S L O W. A single map can take up to two hours, 50% of that time being combat cutscenes and loading times. So slow it almost becomes masochistic to play.
It's neat, but i have a hard time recommending it. 5 remains the best.

to be honest there's 100% going to be real time translation screen overlay apps or something pretty soon. It'll just autotranslate everything on your monitor in real time, whether it's text, images, software, etc and you wont have to run things through a service for each text capture.
We're rapidly hurtling to a future where there's no such things as language barriers.

You should try out the demo for Mecharashi. It's pretty much Front Mission in everything but name. Contract fell through on FM 2089: Borderscape so devs had to rename everything and change up some of the designs. Enjoyed it more than the demasters.

Yesterday I watched Your Name with a few people, and who is playing each character is absurdly obvious in Japanese because Mitsuha talks like an overly feminine country bumpkin and Taki talks like a soulless tokyoite high schooler. But you don't get any of that through the subtitles, because role language has poor English equivalents.

Story was interesting at the start but the moment the two protags join teams the story became a meandering nothingness, but who knows maybe this was the remake's TL and the real story is a masterpiece

This game is great but the original version of the game had battle animations unskippable. The ultimate hits version lets you skip them but you need to check the enemy after each attack to see which parts you damaged. Does the remake do anything differently?
imo 2, 4, and 5 are all great in different ways. 1 is cool but bland, and 3 is bad. I also recommend gun hazard (it plays like assault suits valken).

Nor really complaining in that way. I've actually beaten this one( as well as the rest of the franchise ). I'm a JOP, but considering how important this one is historically ( as well as TM1 ) it's a shame it is still untranslated.
It's one of those retro games that is very well regarded in Japan, but virtually nobody knows about it elsewhere. It's not Xenogears level of storytelling for sure, but it is legit one of the most charming games I have ever played period. The best two games from the franchise are imho Manjimaru and The 4th apocalypse.

If there's no translation I just won't play it, I play a lot of games but I'm getting older I'm not gonna learn Japanese just to play some saturn kuso strip mahjong game. Learning Japanese just to consume isn't an inherently meritorious activity. Besides I already learned Spanish which is far more useful in burgerland. In the state I live in Vietnamese would be the next most useful language if I was going for the local utilitarian view, but Mandarin is probably more useful from a global perspective, both are hard as shit.
