I definitely get why SSR Wives got such a mixed reception last thread but I personally liked it a lot. It's definitely in the Silent Hill 2 school of survival horror where aesthetic direction rules over everything else, but said aesthetic is cool as fuck. It did a good job of maintaining a sense of surreal unease throughout the whole thing. I can see the controls being annoying and the whole thing feeling a bit overbearing though.

It's alright. Despite the gameplay being advertised as unique it still devolves to basic spam attack on basic mobs. The biggest detracting factor for me was the visuals. Bloom out the ass on upscaled backgrounds. Sprites not meshing well and overall feeling like a budget "remaster". I get it's a DS game but this needs way more time to make it look good which you know they won't do.

I'm gonna download Vindictus and then camp out and wait for the top 50 demos. I'm gonna squeeze every penny out of this fest like the wannabe-jew I am.

I played like 5 demos this time, worst Next Fest ever

Project Turboblast was a fun demo but I wish the game bothered to explain the scoring mechanics a little better. After a few races I came to understand that to perform well, you need to:
>avoid collisions with other racers or walls at all costs unless it's the very beginning of the race
>run over those floor boosters as much as you can
>accumulaye points much faster by spamming the boost button with a high multiplier while drifting either in a turn or in a straight line than trying to go fast all the time (although it feels satisfying)

So my plan was to remain in last place accumulating points for the first few turns then focus on going fast for the last turn to get 1st place. If I collide with other racers, I'll have accumulated enough points for it not to care.

yeah, the reactor fucked me up too and i only managed to finish it because you get extra dice for each dead character so my last character could just blitz through and get the remaining 2 cores and get to the center with a couple lucky rolls and rerolls and actually somehow dodging the curse procs.
Not looking to forward to having to try to recover from shit like that with time limits on missions and possibly getting my save in a failure state.
Though maybe i just need to think of this more like xcom than darkest dungeon.
Also probably a lot more mechanics in the full game that makes newcomers easier to catch up.

I didn't like the gameplay in AI-Deal rays, like at all. At least there was some eye candy and an amazing music. This was so close to being such an amazing game, H-game aspects notwithstanding. I think if buttons were more spread to do multiple functions with a less cluttered UI it'd work better as a game. The animations and everything else is high quality

Very satisfied with this fest. I only recommend the stuff in Favorites and Good, but I'll likely check out the full games of the decent ones too. Steam apparently has an official short link so that saves on characters. FPS roguelite with overbearing narrative that isn't too interesting. If the dev wants to put so much emphasis on the story it should be something worthwhile. Maybe have more characters to interact with that are also trapped in the experiment with you, which could react to your malware buddy and make it seem more special or whatever
Good result from a single dev, although spamming the gravity manipulation feels a bit cheesy. Still, environment destruction is always cool.
I like the modular upgrades system, since you can add nodes with manipulates the behavior of their neighbors.
I'm wishlisting this one but I have a feeling it will be early access.

I liked how much you scour the environment to figure out what's going on, interrogate people and take notes to keep things straight. I wasn't a fan of Golden Idol because it feels like a game that solves it self. You hunt for words and place them in premade sentences. The only possible way any developer can make it challenging is by adding red herring words, which is just really stupid to me, so I haven't been a fan of all the clones either. While it still has premade sentences, Mystery of the Malign has much more investigative work going on because of the 3D exploration and interrogation. The interrogation especially is interesting because I imagine you're only going to get more and more subjects to ask a suspect as the game goes on, so you really have to pay attention instead of simply exhausting all the dialogue options hoping to find something.

Deficit was alright, a bit deficit (heh) in content and the combat was barebones. I died and it set me back like half an hour despite passing several checkpoints so i didn't finish it. Also how are you playing as a woman lmao

Psycasso never did get very much traction, which might be fair enough, because the demo was kind of incomplete, but I still think it shows promise.

Also I really should have gone and told the developer his demo questline just kind of fizzled out, although I might be able to get it working. It occurs to me that if I kill the person I kidnap during the tutorial, maybe that will work. It didn't say to kill them, but maybe it was implied? You know, the demos are all done now so I might have more time to experiment rather than rushing through and judging quickly what is worth it and what is trash.

The city overall is very well designed and you can explore the whole map, which is mostly why I think the game is promising. You have a good city there, now it just needs to be filled up. Game is kind of like a more advanced 2D Grand Theft Auto. You can buy properties in the city.

Odd hearing people having technical difficulties with Metal Eden, my PC's pretty mid-range yet aside from a bit of input lag on the main menu it runs smoothly enough.
Not that the game itself is spectacular from what I saw in it, there are some traces of RUINER in it like some gun designs, or when you're in an area with lots of red, but it really doesn't have the strong stylishness of their previous game. The gameplay itself leaves a lot to be desired too, combat feels really disconnected and weightless (in a bad way), the Core abilities feel lacking in punchiness, which is werd - you'd expect that ripping out a dudes mechanical heart and throwing it as an explosive or absorbing it to do a super punch would have more impact, but it doesn't feel like anything. The Mina the Hollower demo felt very short.
It also felt a lot more action focused/packed than I expected. It actually kind of unironically feels more like a 2D Souls game than it feels like the old Zelda games.

I really want to see what the full game might offer though. What kinds of secrets the game will run with and how many of them etc. If there are choices that actually affects the world. Etc.

The demo was mostly just simple stealth and didn't show much but I really liked the polish it had with the way controlling the girl feels, the graphics, and especially with the soldiers talking to each other, noticing if one guy goes missing, addressing sounds, hang different lines if you keep repeating the same distraction and everything. Very promising game.

dice pool tactical rpg with a heavy focus on building up your noble family. the demo was really fun, but there are some things that give me pause for the full game. you select two traits when making your character, but the demo says they don't affect gameplay, they just change how your character looks and some throwaway combat dialogue. hopefully that's not the case for the full game, I want an arrogant character to be completely different from a cowardly character. the other is that the dice stuff is a pretty simple roll and then use movement die to move, guard die to block, attack die to attack. special moves use combinations of those to do interesting things which so far is enough to keep things interesting, but I expected some die customization to make die more likely to roll movement, or something like that.

incredibly polished and stylish story rich rhythm game. the visuals during the gameplay can be a bit too busy which is annoying. might be a demo problem, but the story is told in a way that feels a bit disjointed and tough to follow what all is happening. main cast are angsty teens which could easily get annoying. the main bad guys of the demo are based and are hopefully prominently featured. dev team is obviously full of pronoun people, but other than the generic "cops bad" story, that only seemed to seep out once, when there was a cringe line about band posters being great to fight fascism

I didn't find the escort missions to be that bad. The Silvia competition was definitely annoying because she's an absolute cunt that will attack your Inquisitor along with the Chromatics.

The worst by far was definitely the Nova clone wave defense one, at least on Brutal difficulty. How in the absolute FUCK am I reasonably supposed to keep this guy alive on a tiny map against 10+ ranged enemies when he goes down in 3-4 hits and the fight starts with them already hugging his balls? I just started skipping them after second time doing it because he either goes down near immediately or my Inquisitors lose 80% of their health guarding him. I guess his mission being stupid and self destructive does match the theme for his character and his views on the Inquisition though.
