I definitely get why SSR Wives got such a mixed reception last thread but I personally liked it a lot. It's definitely in the Silent Hill 2 school of survival horror where aesthetic direction rules over everything else, but said aesthetic is cool as fuck. It did a good job of maintaining a sense of surreal unease throughout the whole thing. I can see the controls being annoying and the whole thing feeling a bit overbearing though.

>>712788890>WiZmans World Re;TryIt's alright. Despite the gameplay being advertised as unique it still devolves to basic spam attack on basic mobs. The biggest detracting factor for me was the visuals. Bloom out the ass on upscaled backgrounds. Sprites not meshing well and overall feeling like a budget "remaster". I get it's a DS game but this needs way more time to make it look good which you know they won't do.

A retro style mystery investigation game. It seems promising, even if barebones. The lack of voice acting holds it from being more of a known game. Demo is a tad short, but it communicates the mechanics and introduces the main cast.

i already enjoyed the shit out of dice gambit so our taste already match 25%
Sadly i also haven't gotten around to playing much the last couple weeks either.
Shout out to anons from previous threads that mentoned Dice Gambit - wouldn't find it otherwise because for some reason it has "deckbuilding" tag which i filtered. Game is pretty easy until i almost got raped in reactor mission but fun nonetheless.
Also i'm in love with those old create-your-avatar and dress-up flash games and character creator here is exactly that.
Artis Impact Meiji Spa was really good but then you find out it is a demo for a stand alone side story of a previous Next Fest game which still hasn't released. I'm so fucking confused.
>>712794980My attention slipped before I could complete the game. What's the other game Artis is linked to?

Project Turboblast was a fun demo but I wish the game bothered to explain the scoring mechanics a little better. After a few races I came to understand that to perform well, you need to:
>avoid collisions with other racers or walls at all costs unless it's the very beginning of the race
>run over those floor boosters as much as you can
>accumulaye points much faster by spamming the boost button with a high multiplier while drifting either in a turn or in a straight line than trying to go fast all the time (although it feels satisfying)
So my plan was to remain in last place accumulating points for the first few turns then focus on going fast for the last turn to get 1st place. If I collide with other racers, I'll have accumulated enough points for it not to care.
>>712795103Where is the touhou EO reskin then
Turns out trying to finish all the demos you were interested in rather than giving then 10-20 minutes each was a mistake. I had 30 demos
Easy Delivery Co. is comfy as fuck
If you don't use first person camera you're playing the game wrong
>>712794820yeah, the reactor fucked me up too and i only managed to finish it because you get extra dice for each dead character so my last character could just blitz through and get the remaining 2 cores and get to the center with a couple lucky rolls and rerolls and actually somehow dodging the curse procs.
Not looking to forward to having to try to recover from shit like that with time limits on missions and possibly getting my save in a failure state.
Though maybe i just need to think of this more like xcom than darkest dungeon.
Also probably a lot more mechanics in the full game that makes newcomers easier to catch up.

In one the previous threads some anon complained about Gold Gold Adventure Gold being a "gooner game" and that's why he deducted the points from the game's score.
Where the hell is this flaming faggot now? I want to know what the fuck is "gooner" according to him? Because after playing the demo the closest thing I found to sexualization is two gay furries hugging the minimap.

>>712794820The reactor ain't shit compared to the amazon drone escort missions
I didn't like the gameplay in AI-Deal rays, like at all. At least there was some eye candy and an amazing music. This was so close to being such an amazing game, H-game aspects notwithstanding. I think if buttons were more spread to do multiple functions with a less cluttered UI it'd work better as a game. The animations and everything else is high quality

Overall a good fest this time with a bunch of promising games, especially Morsels.
Very satisfied with this fest. I only recommend the stuff in Favorites and Good, but I'll likely check out the full games of the decent ones too. Steam apparently has an official short link so that saves on characters. Would be nice if they put a share button on the store pages that made use of these and could put in the title so that they're compact and readable as can be.

>VOID/BREAKER
FPS roguelite with overbearing narrative that isn't too interesting. If the dev wants to put so much emphasis on the story it should be something worthwhile. Maybe have more characters to interact with that are also trapped in the experiment with you, which could react to your malware buddy and make it seem more special or whatever
Good result from a single dev, although spamming the gravity manipulation feels a bit cheesy. Still, environment destruction is always cool.
I like the modular upgrades system, since you can add nodes with manipulates the behavior of their neighbors.
I'm wishlisting this one but I have a feeling it will be early access.
>>712806194>Mystery of the MalignI liked how little it holds your hand. Cool interface, pretty accurate depiction of 90s games.
I couldn't make much sense of the case though, it's very vague. Will try the full version for sure though
Anyone else try Sinker Sound?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3600990/Sinker_sound/
It was hard as fuck but probably the most interesting fishing mechanics I've ever seen
>>712806508I liked how much you scour the environment to figure out what's going on, interrogate people and take notes to keep things straight. I wasn't a fan of Golden Idol because it feels like a game that solves it self. You hunt for words and place them in premade sentences. The only possible way any developer can make it challenging is by adding red herring words, which is just really stupid to me, so I haven't been a fan of all the clones either. While it still has premade sentences, Mystery of the Malign has much more investigative work going on because of the 3D exploration and interrogation. The interrogation especially is interesting because I imagine you're only going to get more and more subjects to ask a suspect as the game goes on, so you really have to pay attention instead of simply exhausting all the dialogue options hoping to find something.
Deficit was alright, a bit deficit (heh) in content and the combat was barebones. I died and it set me back like half an hour despite passing several checkpoints so i didn't finish it. Also how are you playing as a woman lmao

I had a hard time with the demo for the sequel, maybe I'm a brainlet.
I saw what you mean about the structure though, Malign is far more engaging.
The writing is decent too. I like how you bring your annoying wife along since she's into the same mystic stuff your character seems to be, but she's not taken as a serious person? The dynamic is interesting lol

I wasn't expecting a good game because lol Eden's Zero but i'm still dissapointed
So what do we actually think of Inventorix?
Fun or bullshit? I'm kind of undecided.
finally played aeromachina. I wanna love it, but it felt quite flawed. And not in a "fix this one big flaw and everything is good way", but more in a "there's a ton of little flaws that add up to a frustrating experience" way
any first person survival horror recs?
>>712813694It's flawed for sure but I still loved it. The gliding pissed me off though and the combat is whatever.
Now that next fest is coming to an end, let me shill once more for Gecko Gods, because it seems to fly under too many radars.
Very cute 3d exploration with really nice movement. Also you can make the gecko make sounds.
>>712814110I hope the full game has tons of satisfying secrets. It's kind of what would make or break the full release for me.
I really enjoyed Legends of the Round Table. That and Cast and Chill were the only ones I wish listed this time around
>>712813826yeah, gliding controls (and gauging your height) and camera were the most annoying. Respawning enemies every time you enter a room also felt pretty unnecessary, really made exploration more of a chore.
Oh also the lock-on doing a swirl around the target before actually locking on is a bizarre choice, especially during the timed platforming sections.
>>712814110At first it was funny and cute (not like that, you sickos), but once the novelty wore off I found no reason to stick with it.

It's peak streamer game to be wowed at for 6 hours then never think about again. A huge shame, it could be so much more.
Why didn't you guys tell me there was a Wakfu Hades game?
>>712814226I hope so too, but I'm fairly optimistic, there's some collectible relics hidden in the demo, some of which are actually quite far off the intended path. And some rooms that you could look into but not get there yet.
Liked are wives demo, any more horror games?

I don't think the Discounty Devs are going to listen to me when I told them to make the character creator race match your family member's races.

>>712818628I thought Tumblr got shut down years ago and was replaced by corporate pozz?
Psycasso never did get very much traction, which might be fair enough, because the demo was kind of incomplete, but I still think it shows promise.
Also I really should have gone and told the developer his demo questline just kind of fizzled out, although I might be able to get it working. It occurs to me that if I kill the person I kidnap during the tutorial, maybe that will work. It didn't say to kill them, but maybe it was implied? You know, the demos are all done now so I might have more time to experiment rather than rushing through and judging quickly what is worth it and what is trash.
The city overall is very well designed and you can explore the whole map, which is mostly why I think the game is promising. You have a good city there, now it just needs to be filled up. Game is kind of like a more advanced 2D Grand Theft Auto. You can buy properties in the city.

Chetta was another failure because of bugs, but you can always fix bugs. It was a reasonably decent rip off of Evangelion where an amnesiac Rei finds out the secrets of the mechs and crashlands on a deserted island and gets raped by SAVAGES and assorted monsters.

Cat Named Mojave was another one no one ended up talking about, which is weird, because I thought you weirdos would have all loved that part where the cat hires you to go murder his neighbours and then the deer-girl tries to commit adultery with you because she's trapped in an unhappy marriage but it's implied that they are living in a desert wasteland because she was sort of a whore and so they moved out there so there wouldn't be anyone to cheat on with.
you always talk about how games just re-use plots over and over again, well, this one isn't doing that, at least.

Any games where the protagonist looks like Okko but it's a girl?
Gonna highlight a couple games I personally enjoyed but haven't seen mentioned.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2533600/Bloodthief/
This is gonna be popular. Titanfall Slide hopping first person air dash slasher with a massive skill ceiling.
Solid extremely high speed movement if you are good enough and want to spend the time grinding out a path.
Last combat focused room in Doom Chapel was challenging. I'll probably enjoy this for finding all the secrets and getting a clean run or two but I don't see myself grinding for times speedrun style.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3486280/Long_Knives/
"Played" through the prologue, just under an hour.
Exceedingly minimal but it's enough to set the scene and I'm kind of wishing other cyoa had similar.
Kind of a slow opening but it's got me hooked to see where it goes.
I think I've accessed ch1 but it's not translated...
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3532140/Super_10_Pin_Demo/
I loved it. Aesthetics, menu design, soundtrack, tight controls.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2471320/THE_RIFT/
Haven't played a time trial flight sim that actually controlled well since Strike Vector and its rerelease.
"Campaign1" is the most difficult track in the demo by far, more reliance on correctly using the gimmick blocks.
Makes me think of trackmania if you know what I mean.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3641250/FISH/
feesh feesh feesh
Waverace fishing. It uh, kind of actually works. Super rough, interested to see where this goes with more dev time.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3565460/Tahitian_Driftin/ Control scheme/drifting a bit odd, really solid otherwise.
Bonus not nextfest demo I played https://store.steampowered.com/app/3509160/BAIONLENJA/
I was a solid rocket jumper back in the day, but terrible at b-hopping. Somehow in BAIONLENJA the b-hopping is easy and feels smooth but I couldn't get a hang of the rocket jumping.

We don't know what you like.
>>712820670Odd hearing people having technical difficulties with Metal Eden, my PC's pretty mid-range yet aside from a bit of input lag on the main menu it runs smoothly enough.
Not that the game itself is spectacular from what I saw in it, there are some traces of RUINER in it like some gun designs, or when you're in an area with lots of red, but it really doesn't have the strong stylishness of their previous game. The gameplay itself leaves a lot to be desired too, combat feels really disconnected and weightless (in a bad way), the Core abilities feel lacking in punchiness, which is werd - you'd expect that ripping out a dudes mechanical heart and throwing it as an explosive or absorbing it to do a super punch would have more impact, but it doesn't feel like anything. I'll keep an eye on it since there is potential, but hopes aren't high for me

The Mina the Hollower demo felt very short.
It also felt a lot more action focused/packed than I expected. It actually kind of unironically feels more like a 2D Souls game than it feels like the old Zelda games.
Then again, Classicvania was always action focused and deadly too.
I really want to see what the full game might offer though. What kinds of secrets the game will run with and how many of them etc. If there are choices that actually affects the world. Etc.
Or if it'll be very true to Classicvania. Or if it'll have more of a Metroidvania or Zelda type of progression. The demo doesn't really answer this. It was more of an action gauntlets with bottomless pits and fire hazards. Those parts were done pretty well though admittedly, but will the full game offer more?
Yes I died twice on my way to the end. Don't laugh.
>>712827007>stream*rslmao
>>712829309Huh? I usually assume most people have good intentions. Most devs who I've talked to who take down their demos usually do it because supporting a demo stream alongside the full game takes too much from production time.
The problem I have is with people who instablock their demo as soon as the fest is over, not just suspend downloads and let those who already have it play it.

If your demo wasn't lucky enough to be near the top for most people at the very start of the Fest, before the sorting algorithm started giving preference to whatever was tried out the most first, it was bound to descend into hell with no one able to see it.
The only way you can possibly overcome this bad luck for something that doesn't have high quality production is with aggressive marketing in advance.

Octopath Traveler being a success despite its hideous art style has been a disaster for the JRPG genre.
>>712830693It depends on whether the developer is an arsehole. Arsehole developers will pull their demo either upon the release of the full thing or immediately after the next fest because they're arseholes. Normal devs will allow their demos to serve as DEMOS and leave them to stay indefinitely.

>>712847573>Crescent Towerearly Final Fantasy meets Wizardry. bit less hardcore than Wizardry, but still a great challenge
>Artis Impactsuper well polished, stylish, and charming rpg maker game. heavily inspired by nier a tomato
>Dice Gambitdice pool tactical rpg with a heavy focus on building up your noble family. the demo was really fun, but there are some things that give me pause for the full game. you select two traits when making your character, but the demo says they don't affect gameplay, they just change how your character looks and some throwaway combat dialogue. hopefully that's not the case for the full game, I want an arrogant character to be completely different from a cowardly character. the other is that the dice stuff is a pretty simple roll and then use movement die to move, guard die to block, attack die to attack. special moves use combinations of those to do interesting things which so far is enough to keep things interesting, but I expected some die customization to make die more likely to roll movement, or something like that.
>Unbeatableincredibly polished and stylish story rich rhythm game. the visuals during the gameplay can be a bit too busy which is annoying. might be a demo problem, but the story is told in a way that feels a bit disjointed and tough to follow what all is happening. main cast are angsty teens which could easily get annoying. the main bad guys of the demo are based and are hopefully prominently featured. dev team is obviously full of pronoun people, but other than the generic "cops bad" story, that only seemed to seep out once, when there was a cringe line about band posters being great to fight fascism
>Dispatchusually not interested in these games, only bothered with Wolf Among Us which I did like though. the gameplay is simple, but does force you to make suboptimal choices which often leads to decently humorous situations. the writing is right on the line of being too much, which is a worry.

Is Theta and Paralldox Chinese or Taiwanese?
I can't find any info on the devs. I think I almost installed mainland Chinese software.

>>712849174https://store.steampowered.com/app/3586260/Handyman_Fantasy__Demo/
>>712797023I didn't find the escort missions to be that bad. The Silvia competition was definitely annoying because she's an absolute cunt that will attack your Inquisitor along with the Chromatics.
The worst by far was definitely the Nova clone wave defense one, at least on Brutal difficulty. How in the absolute FUCK am I reasonably supposed to keep this guy alive on a tiny map against 10+ ranged enemies when he goes down in 3-4 hits and the fight starts with them already hugging his balls? I just started skipping them after second time doing it because he either goes down near immediately or my Inquisitors lose 80% of their health guarding him. I guess his mission being stupid and self destructive does match the theme for his character and his views on the Inquisition though.
