If you asked me in 2015 what would happen in 10 years, my answer damn well would not have been everyone switching to handheld systems.

I sure as fuck wouldn't guess that we'd get Virtual Reality gaming, by Valve no less, except nobody fucking likes it.

If I had to take a stab at it, my guess is that everything will be AI soon. You'll describe your character and AI will make it. The level will be made by AI, all the bots (well they were always AI, but now they'll be better) will function no differently than real players. You can talk to them too. You can have the multiplayer 2007 experience again except by yourself. Want to play Star Wars Battlefront 2 with players of equal skill that like to talk about the things you like? Prompt it, and start playing.

Pretty much the way it is now.

VR might be a little more popular, but far from mainstream. The same casual 2K, FIFA, CoD games will make the most money. Probably some new genre of multiplayer shooters to finally move on from battle royales. GTA 6 online is probably the main game casuals will play.

Probably some AI stuff as well, but I doubt it will be good enough to maintain a solid playerbase

It will be the exact same as the past two decades (since 2005), just with better graphics, bigger maps, and more emergent NPC behaviours.

The formula has stagnated and has shown zero signs of evolving.
There aren't going to be really any 'new' ways to interact with video games, so long as VR remains prohibitively expensive, and any shifts won't be drastically different from existing VR experiences. And even if VR becomes mainstream, I think a lot of people would still prefer conventional methods of gameplay, so it will always be relegated to a gimmick.

Culture and life in general has sort of stagnated in the western world.
Not to be a debbie downer but people are saying the west is about to collapse in the coming years, and it kinda shows.
China has no interest in picking up the western mantle either, they're forging their own path ahead.

Ray tracing improvements, but still not 100% there.
America and Europe will embrace sex appeal again.
AI slop will be more common, and gamers will argue whether it's good or bad. Like the arguments between soul and no soul.

In 10 years there concept of "gamedev" or even "vidya" will disappear. They will be obsolete like artists/writers/musicians are now. With AI we will be able to prompt things that goes beyond just "vidya".
