I didn't finish Tears of the Kingdom and I'm glad I didn't.
I live in Japan. I was having fun playing the game but every time I played I felt paranoid thinking that I should be studying Japanese instead of playing games. I put about 50 hours into it, mostly just exploring, and then stopped to focus on studying and then other games I was interested in came out and I never got back to it.
Now I'm playing the Switch 2 version and I'm having a blast. It feels like a brand new game because I didn't do much of the story previously. And the studying paid off too because I'm playing it in Japanese with no problems. Playing TotK and Mario Kart World right now is fun and kinda nostalgic because when I bought the original Switch in 2017 I bought BotW and MK8D together with the console.
This game is awesome, I can't put it down. I'm glad I quit playing when I did and focused on studying instead, it's so much better on Switch 2.
