before quitting video games forever.
Sure, some other walking sims and first-person adventure/puzzle games have created some incredible digital spaces.
But none of them really come close to these two behemoths.

There are things that video games typically cannot do.
These two games do them.

Bitcher 3 is absolute shit, and console trash.
Books > TW1:EE > > > 3's DLC > 3 > 2.

And even then, you'd miss a shitton of far superior games by stopping here.

If you're talking about atmosphere The Witcher 1 beats The Witcher 3

You're gay.
I've already replayed the game 4 times. Could easily go for a 5th run any day now.

Yea I'm counting TW1 and TW2 as a necessary part of TW3's experience. But I consider the three together as essentially one game so I didn't include it. Was going to say these are the only two franchises you'd need to play but I didn't want to include Redemption nor the other World of Darkness games.

They're actually very similar.
And /v/ pretends that 1 is the best for some reason. It's the least popular one I guess, so you're allowed to like it as a contrarian.

It's one creative vision and one persistent narrative.
I don't consider gameplay to be the defining feature of a game's 'soul'.

Witcher 1 and 3 are very close atmosphere-wise.
They even have the same quests in some places, like the cannibal one in the swamp and the cannibal one in Velen.
The only thing 1 has over 3 is a grander sense of mystique and jank which can be attributed to the graphics and the pervasiveness of 3's central narrative, which brings in the political elements from 2.

Your opinion is shit, as is 99% of /v/'s what do I care.
Stop pretending any game has amazing gameplay.
You have hack and slash, rhythm, platformers, walking sims/VNs, racing, shooters, whoop dee fucking doo.
It's the narrative and atmosphere that determines a great game.
