Why not just sell the games on discs if flash memory is too expensive? The key card shit will backfire in such a catastrophic way

Worse, why not use a normal SD card, since the game will need to be installed anyway?
If the SD Card Express is too expensive to put the whole game on, and they're selling an SD card with just a link, why don't they sell the SD card with the entire game on it, and you just transfer it to the Switch 2's faster internal memory?
Oh, you know why? Because that would be pro-consumer. And Nintendo can only see business opportunities when it's subjugating the poor consumer.

Square Enix and Capcom specifically requested game key cards. They can't stand spending any money at all on physical media. They even stopped providing updates, patches and DLC for new print PS4 and PS5 releases. They have the financial resources to create new cover artwork and a completely new disc, but they lack the financial resources to include updates, patches and DLC

It really does suck that there's no way to get street fighter 6 with all the DLC on the cart/disk. Maybe they're waiting for wave 3? Assuming that's the last DLC wave that is

>Maybe they're waiting for wave 3?
Holy shit, you really enjoy living on copium! Since the PS4 era with Street Fighter V, Capcom has stopped putting DLC on discs. Two new copies of Street Fighter V were released on the PS4, but neither came with DLC on the disc; instead, they came with a voucher code. They released 'Street Fighter 6: Years 1-2 Fighters Edition' a few days ago, and the DLC is just another voucher code AGAIN. They hate the thought of consumers owning their games

Because itโ€™s Japan. JAPAN. Their economy is in the toilet and most of the game companies are on the verge of collapse. Nintendo and Sony are the only companies doing well due to their scale while the others (Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, Atlus, etc.) are mired in poverty. No one can afford game carts anymore. They can barely afford to make games anymore. And with America already being plunged into a deep recession, that leaves the future of gaming with China. Switch 2 is a paperweight and will likely not get more than 20 games before companies fold.

You people are really delusional. I don't understand why you're making excuses for billion-dollar companies... these companies are driven solely by one thing: making a profit

Disc drives have moving parts, optical layers and easily break. It would add another $100 to the price and the system would need to be redesigned (where is the battery going to fit?)

Can anyone explain this obsession with physical media? It's worthless tat.

How do you know? As far as I know, it's the same technology as the Switch 1 "cartridges", which are basically the same thing as SD cards.
