7th gen was unironically a different time. Publishers tried chasing the elusive wider audience of casuals so everything had to have been dumbed down.

Unfortunately there's a part in the non lethal mode where you need the objective markers to proceed, at least in the original launch version. I remember having to turn them on and then back off.
All the Dishonored games are good btw. Even Death of the Outsider.
