Is this game actually good or do people just like it for the memes?
I'm comparing it to action games like NG2/3RE and DMC3/4, for reference.

Its amazing the first time round but the only parts worth replaying are the boss fights.

Good ost and plot/characters but the gameplay and level design are pure ass

Mid combat but it's a fun movie game, think Uncharted where you're not really playing for the gameplay but the "ride"
it's an extremely condensed crystal of fun, with engaging gameplay and engaging characters and cutscenes and great music. compared to other action games it's not that challenging or at all complex, but it's unique and worth playing for sure. it goes to show how great platinum games would be without horrible and unfun minigames padding it out and a drawn out horrible fantasy zone segment. there are only three kind of 'bits' like this in the entire game and they're inoffensive. one where you take control of a little robot and have to go somewhere with him but it's super easy, one where raiden is in pain or having a mental breakdown or something and you have to boringly walk somewhere (followed by one of the most kino moments of the game which makes it worth putting up with), and a shit gimmicky bit where it all goes dark and you have to keep using your robot vision to see in the dark and not alert all the little shit enemies, but it's brief.
