QoL shit. I was in the same boat until pretty recently but it's actually pretty nice, mostly just for ctrl+s, alt+s and hover to expand images

Mostly just getting burned out modding it, realizing that the scope of what I wanted to do had ballooned way out of proportion. Went back to drawing for a while, then I got into another autism trap game, X4.
I'll probably come back to it, but I think I need some modelling/animating experience before I try again.

I'd say Mount and Blade definitely, really the thing that connects those three games is the freedom to mass your own armies and make your own stories as you go. If you can find any game that does that I think you've found a good candidate. What separates Kenshi for me is its ease of modding. Anybody can make a mod in that game pretty easily because the dev tools are so simple. They're awkwardly restrictive in a lot of ways though so it can be very frustrating if you get into that side of it, especially once you start looking at the clunky dialogue system.
Other people recommend Rimworld but I haven't played it to know if it's a good suggestion. I'd be tempted to recommend normie shit like Fallout 4 and The Sims, but that brand of autism is the "I like to build houses" autism. In Kenshi the equivalent would be someone who likes to build up their bases and can happily spend days doing nothing but that.

I'm a sucker for Rimworld, i'm playing it right now. I also recently bought M&B 2 Bannerlord and had a great time with it but it requires to put many hours. I guess Kenshi is the same.

It does yeah, the trouble with both M&B and X4 for me is that you reach a snowball stage where nothing can stop you and that wipes out the fun for me. It's the same reason why the early/mid game of games like XCOM 2 are way more fun than the late game.
In Kenshi a high level gang is still pretty fun because there's some seriously dangerous zones in the south of the map that even well geared, high level characters will struggle with

I love modding my games and adding qol and skipping some of the more (in a negative sense) tedious tasks, i actually like feeling godlike in my games many times, other times im up for a challenge. I love Rimworld because it gives you the freedom to play however you want, i guess same goes for Kenshi too.

my only complaint about kenshi is that it takes so fucking load to load a new area

Once you get into the groove, it's a game that plays very well into journeying into the unknown and getting the everliving shit beaten out of you.
Save often, anon. Try to get another character if you're starting out solo, even if they just hang back and mine, so you have someone who can first aid in an emergency.
